   Rash of new hub accounts all following with no hubs etc.
   
   I've had probably a dozen today. New signups with zero hubs they sign up and follow a bunch of hubbers. Does this mean my hubs are about to be scraped and posted all over the place? Why does this happen and is there not a way to block mass signups like this? I wish there was a way to not allow people to follow you.

      I have someone with zero hubs joined 4 months ago and only following me, how do you stop that is there a way, is what I like to know.

   Christin!  This just happened to me, the day my Hub was chosen as Hub of the Day! 
   
   At least 3 people with 0 Hubs joined that same day and followed me.  Next thing I know, someone informed me that my Hub of the Day was stolen!  I have 2 hubs that I know of that were completely copied in entirely including photos to blogger.
   
   Since that day, 6 people have unfollowed me.....they have all been banned by HP.  I have no idea who those people were or how they found me.

   I've had similar zero hub followers and haven't heard a peep from them.  No published content, activity in forums, etc.  It makes me wonder what the deal is.  I wish there was a way to "decline" or "unfriend" a follower.

      What else have you noticed? I've noticed this and a lot of strange comments on hubs for awhile that I never saw previously.

      Good point Christin!  I had a comment on one of mine that said the commentor could have written it better than I did with a link to a tech website.  I didn't click on it, but it was a guest user.

   Sounds very unsettling. They wouldn't need to follow you to scrape hubs, unless they only wanted newly published. Maybe try posting a "suggested feature"  on the forums about blocking people.

      them being alerted about new hubs is my concern actually, that they'll take that hub and try to say it's theirs or something.

   Of course there are lots of people who are readers and not writers and a writer without a reader it a sad lot.
   Of course you should be watching for plagiarism but at the same time be happy that you have new readers.

      these are highly suspect though several in one day, follow immediately after signing up, and most have "sales" kind of names. I think it's not legit otherwise I would be thrilled

      Have you seen any plagiarizing or portions of your hubs pop up elsewhere? Google is pretty good at sniffing this out.
      I don't blame you for being suspicious.

    Just do not follow them back. When their account is closed, they will be taken off of your list.

    Your question had some good answers and it raised more questions. I believe that several of these no-hub followers that followed me are commercial. I didn't follow them back because I was afraid their motive was to sell me something. Maybe I was wrong.
