Should I make my Hubpage as my personal writing blog and promote it?
I have started writing recently and set up a career progress plan as freelancer writer.
I am a newbie and all the site thing or technical techniques are alien to me.
I set up a writing blog as recommended by experience writers however I do not know how to use HTML and my blogger looks amateur and I feel ashamed linking to my blog. Readers and potential clients would leave immediately after seeing that dull design.
I consider making my Hubpages as my personal writing blog to promote my writing and building reputation as a writer. Have anyone has experienced doing this before?
In myopinion, absolutely NOT! This is not a Blog style site and you will not be happy with the constraints they place on your works. It is a good site to exhibit your better works, but a Blog is much more flexible for you.
DON
HubPages is not a blog, so no. What you can do and what I have done successfully is write great hubs on topics that highlight your other areas of knowledge and expertise. I have used hubs as writing samples to show my ability - but HP is not a portfolio. You will still need to develop a portfolio down the line when you want to take on more clients. There are some specific sites where you can sign up to create these if need be.
Well, let me start by saying I am not a professional writer like these folks. I love using hubpages for my blog, as it is very easy to add content like photos, videos, and links. If you intend to write an ongoing blog for years and years, this probably is not the best tool. However, you could start here to get a feel for your blog and develop a following. If you decide to change over to another blog host, just add a link in your hub blog to your new blog for your followers. I usually write short lived, seasonal blogs about a specific topic with maybe a dozen entries. I am doing one titled 'Free Honey Bees' this year, if you want to check it out as a reference. I know you will do great and good luck!

I just went through all people I have been following and purged the ones that have no articles and no activity. I am quite surprised to see how many people have left HubPages over the years and I wonder what made them leave in the first place. I understand the volatility of writing online but there...

From our blog, we will earn 100% from our ads whereas in HubPages, we have to share 40% of it with HubPages, but still people are coming and writing on HubPages. Why? What are the advantages or benefits?
