   Hate being emotionally manipulated by that sad animal shelter commercial?
   
   The ASPCA TV Spot For Neglect and Abused Animals features a montage of beaten, dirty animals  with sad music makes me sad that I must turn the TV off, change to another channel or leave the room because it bums me out so much.

   I don't watch enough t.v. to see this often but I can see how it tugs at the heartstrings. I have seen it and I thought it will definitely help pull in some donations or at least raise awareness of animal abuse and neglect.

   It brings a tear to my eye whenever I see something like that, but maybe not as overwhelming to me. Sadly, I see these sorts of animals in person a LOT, and am constantly wading into the flood of animals that are homeless because someone, somewhere thought it was okay to throw them away. My own dogs are both rescues -- one spent 6 months with his first owner, then 14 months in a shelter. I took him home right before his "needle date." The other had a broken leg, was nearly bald, extremely underweight, had worms, and what fur she had was discolored -- she was one of 36 animals that's been raised in a minivan. The people were selling puppies in parking lots all over the state, and had only to surrender the animals to avoid prosecution...it took days to get the stink out of those poor pups. The sanitized pictures they show on TV just don't strike the same chord with me.

   I have been in animal rescue for a long time.  I have 3 rescued dogs, a pig, 3 birds, and 2 cats.  It does tug on my heart to see television commercials displaying horrific acts of violence against animals.  But I'm glad to know that there are organizations out there that try to do what they can toward the problem of animal cruelty.

   I find them incredibly hard to watch. It tugs on my emotions. It's difficult to imagine the abuse the animals endured and who could do such a thing. The sadness in their faces is more than I can take for a few seconds. I have to switch the channel. I don't feel manipulated to give money or go and adopt one.

   It's sad to see these animals beaten and tortured. I don't know how a human being which has so much power over these helpless animals can bring themselves to do such a horrible act. Have they no feelings? Have they no hurt?  I can't figure out what makes them get off on these acts. It's truly sad. A sad world. Beating and torturing animals who cannot fight back and who did nothing wrong to you.
   
   For everyone who beats and tortures animal, the person doing those acts to them should receive the same form of punishment. If you beat a dog, you should be beaten as well. If you starve an animal to the point where they lose weight and are in a malnourished state, then you should be subjected to the same.
