Have you tried your best to grow up your child/children in the right way, yet they turned out bad ?

I know some parents may have tired their best and do everything to see their children follow the right part. Yet when they grew up they chose their own path some not pleasing to their parent's or God. How do you feel as a parent who has tried your best and did not get the results you wanted?

Thanks for taking time to read and answer.

LadyFiddler, your question might be for me. My children were raised as devout followers of Christ.  Now my older child is questioning what she was taught.  She still believes in God, but does not want to be called  Christian.  She has not turned out bad, just misguided.

How do I feel? Disappointed but not discouraged.  I've had my share of doubts and God drew me back to Him.  I believe that He will do the same for her.  Her situation is my call to fervent, continual prayer.

Hi MsDora yes i understand and you just hang in there and keep the faith God is able. You know sometimes trials makes us despair and ask if there is really a God? But there is all we have to do is to think of the good things he has done for us.

I'm still raising my children, so I haven't had this experience.  But I know of two families that have.

The worst thing as a friend that I could do to either family is to try to judge and figure out why their child went wrong or start placing blame/pointing fingers.

In one situation, a young teenager mother's daughter grew up and got into drugs. The mother was a working mother.  There was no religion in that home.   In another situation, a Christian family raised four children and all of them got in trouble with the law.  The mother was a stay home mother.

So while totally different than one another, each family faced situations where their children grew up apart from their good upbringings.

I've known other families that have children grow up to turn against them for seemingly no reason.  It certainly isn't how I was raised.

You did a  good job if you still have a good relationship with the children.  That is the proof of good parenting--not how the children turn out.  God can use your relationship with them to reach them.
