   In case someone other than you ever needs to pick up your child from school or whatever?

   Actually the school establishes a special hand signal or word that the teacher and child agree on. The parent will then tell the person picking up that child the hand signal.
   
   The school will not let a student leave the school with someone other than a parent.
   
   If the student rides a bus and wants to get off at a different stop he/she will need a hand writing note given to the office for the bus driver.
   
   Our school is smaller than a lot of school so this plan is easier to implement.

      Foodee, what an excellent school you have! I wonder how many children would be saved if all schools were like that? Thanks for sharing this great system—hopefully some school officials are reading this answer and will make changes in their systems!

   My mom and I used to have one, but I don't remember now what it was! I do remember once my aunt picked me up because my mom was busy - this was unplanned - and I didn't ask for the password, LOL.

   Its not a good idea to have one. usually children especially girls are highly suggestible and may disclose the password in confronting situations. Also they are vulnerable to emotional blackmailing. Its also easy to distract a child.
   What if someone tells that "your mom told me the password, but it didn't stay in my mind, as i frantically drove to pick you up after admitting her in the hospital".
   The best way is to
   1.Make sure that you or any other from your family will be available for picking her up or what ever (its better late than never)
   2.Make her memorize your mobile, office and address
   3.Teach her to make use of public communication including telephone
   4.Teach her to get the help of law enforcers, police in any emergency
   5.Never get directions from unfamiliar people
   6.Train assertiveness to your child especially when to say no
   7.Give life skills training to your child
   
   This will also help her to face emergencies like being lost in a crowd

      What excellent advice, Anish! Thank you for your detailed answer. I still think that having a password, in addition to all of your above advice, would do no harm, but I totally agree with all of your points above. Thanks for such a detailed answer!

   I did the whole time I raised my Children. Funny, they wouldn't even tell their Dad. He was gone so much, they didn't think he was a part of the plan.
