Can you name five well-known rock bands that are not considered sell-outs by their fans?

It seems a lot of rock bands (of past glory and of present fame) have become "total sell-outs" in the eyes of their fans. Can you name five well-known bands that have never become sell-outs to the almighty corporate dollar?

I like that new Eminem song, Headlights, about his mom. It's a touching song/video in a cheesy pop kind of way and is going along just fine and then BAM! there's a nice close-up shot of the front of his shiny Dodge SUV...what the heck Eminem? You're a multi-millionaire, was it really necessary to pimp for Dodge in your heartfelt mom apology?

Anyway, as to your question, I can only think of one: Fugazi. Or at least it was true once upon a time. Haven't heard anything about them recently, they used to put out records on an independent label, didn't interview with big mags like Spin or Rolling Stones, had $5-$6 concert tickets, etc.

I will have to look up that video! lol Thanks for the Fugazi mention - though honestly, I am not acquainted with them sad I'll ask my youngest; he keeps up with a bunch his ole Mom has not heard!

Fugazi is a bit oldschool. Not really my normal genre (hardcore-ish punk), but there album "13 Songs" is still one of my all-time favorites. Came out in 1989. I listened to it in early 90's as a rebellious young college student.

This is a very good question and difficult to answer.

I know one band, this is Blackmore's Night. They aren't really well known; however, Ritchie Blackmore - the one part of the band - is a star.

Do you know Deep Purple and their "Smoke on the Water"? If yes, than you know Ritchie Blackmore. He was a founding member of Deep Purple, Rainbow, and now of Blackmore's Night. The other part of the band is Candice Night, his partner for many years, and now his wife.

They play ren-rock. It is a mix of renaissance and contemporary music. Unusual mix made not that much for money, they play for pleasure smile

They are known for great live concerts, given mostly in Europe in yards of medieval castles. Blackmore's Night don't necessary look how much money they get, their motto is to entertain and bring joy to their listeners.

Heck yes, I know Ritchie Blackmore and his bands. Rainbow is in my top 3 favorites of all time. Thanks for mentioning Blackmore's Night. They're played a lot at pagan festivals!
