Hub has a possible copied notation

    Hub has a possible copied notation

    If I see a notation that something has been copied does it make sense to just delete it? Tracking down the person that copied it seems like more of a hassle than it's worth. It isn't one of my higher performing hubs.

    The worse thing you can do is delete it, because by doing so you are essentially giving up ownership of it. Also even though it is better to file the DCMA and possibly file a complaint through Google Adsense if applicable, you could choose not to do anything. If your article outranks the copy on Google search it isn't necessary affecting your traffic or earnings. As long as Google is recognizes yours as the original you won't be penalize for the copied content. That being said, it is always better to try to shut down the thieves instead of encouraging them.

      Thanks for the help spartucusjones. I sent a message to the author to remove it and think mine is still viewed as the original so I will see what happens.

    spartucusjones is right.  The last thing you want to do is delete the hub.  Chances are, it is a good hub and that is why it was stolen.  Try clicking on the link HubPages provides for you and make sure your hub has been stolen.  Then send a complaint to the website.  They will often remove it just because you ask them to do so and they've been caught.  If not, you can file a formal complaint about it.  I have all sorts of stolen hubs floating around out there... I can't even keep up.  It is such a nuisance that people would rather steal someone else's material than write their own.

      Thanks so much Jeannieinabottle! I had no idea HubPages provided the link but now I found it. I sent a message to the author and requested he remove it. I'm hoping that is effective. I guess this is a frustrating issue for many but apprecite HP help.
