   What is the ONE thing that draws you in about poetry?
   
   If you had to choose one thing about it. Maybe the best thing. Maybe an experience that developed your interest in poetry. Maybe the deepest thing. The funniest thing.
   If you had to choose one thing that best describes or actualises your love for poetry, what would it be?

   It's difficult to choose one thing Amy. When done well it makes the written word more beautiful and more of a pleasure to read than simple prose. Although not all poetry rhymes, as a child I always preferred books that rhymed e.g. Dr Seuss.

   Subtle use of language. Good imagery.
   Something that gives the reader insight into a way of seeing the world. Says something unique. Writes about something unique.

   A single verse in a poem can have many meanings.  It all depends on how it is presented and how the reader understands its content. A metaphor is used often to express great poetry. One word or phrase says one thing but means something entirely different. It is sort of like when it is raining cats and dogs. Lines like these draw me in,

   I've lived I've seen I saw I aspired, & at one time i chased everything that my mind desired.
   What have i learned from all my pain? well, i certainly learned never to do that again.
   So no more aspiring to be something I'm not, I'm gonna search for love & give life a shot.
   It's never to late as long as we start, to get rid of our ego mind & follow our heart.
   
   Hardly poetry i know, but I'm getting better at it!lol....Trying to rhyme something keeps me thinking about something, for longer than i would usually think or write about it....& it does get my mind ticking away, looking for that special word or line that says it all. :-)

   The flow and sound of words, and their ability to resonate with the person reading those words. If there is a universal element in the words and it is easy to understand or identify, then better again.
   
   If poetry affirms what we are used to finding or seeing in the good poems that we are used to reading, then poetry can be life affirming. If poetry teaches us something about ourselves then this can draw us in.
   
   Familiarity in a poem and its ability to reflect some aspect of us or our life or experience - can also be a major draw to poetry.
   
   Ooops. You did say ONE thing. I mentioned too many. Sorry.

   it gives reality a beautiful imagination thus seeming so unreal but so credible. Additionally it brings fun to plain words and feelings

   The ability to say how you feel when the spoken word fails you. The hidden depths the story behind the words.....just beautiful x
