   From here                                                                                                                     
          If I look up I see the sky. When I look right the rocks abide.
   To my left the green appears. But right in front the steps are near.
         At the top, is wonder! What the obelisk will tell.
         It's tales of cities passed or love that was put asunder?

   I followed the apparition til I came across jagged stone steps
   It disappeared into a corner past the rugged rocks
   I looked before me, a pointed old tower staring down at me
   An eerie sense of stillness and calm in the air.
   I saw no-one but knew I was the furthest from actually being alone
   The hairs behind my neck stood up
   Unsure and my heart beating fast I began to climb these jagged stone steps............

   There was an archaeological expedition to Peru.  The purpose was to discover an unknown Native civilization besides that of the known Incas.  The journey required that one should be in the best physical shape possible as besides a bus, the majority of the journey would be by walking. 
   
   Much of this unknown civilization was located in mountainous areas.  Much of the terrain is at least 3,000 feet high; however, the main destination of the unknown ruins is located at 5,000 feet. What is left of this unknown civilization consists of long, winding stone stairs in addition to some uneven patches of grass.  Besides that, the weather is somewhat hot and dry.   
   
   When the expedition was ready to begin the journey, the guide informed them that the thoroughfare would be quite rocky, even dangerous as the area has been in disrepair since the Conquistadors conquered and destroyed this civilization.   The guide did not seem friendly at all; seeing the archaeologists as latter day conquerors.   He uttered some profanities in his native language and left the archaeologists on their own.
   
   Since there are no guides to assist the archaeologists on their expedition, they have to approach the exploration on a tenuous basis.   Then one of the archaeologists stopped in her tracks when she saw a long snake crawling.   The snake hissed and continuing crawling, harming no one.    It was hoped by the archaeologists that all would be well regarding their journey.  It was middle afternoon and the sun was becoming more unbearingly hot than it was thirty minutes ago.
   
   No matter the weather,  the ruins of an unknown civilization had to be explored and written about.  After all, the archaeologists, all Ph.Ds from Harvard, Columbia, Fordham, and other prestigious universities were paid quite handsomely by the editor-in-chief of a renowned scientific journal to write about unknown civilizations from South America.   So no matter what the natural circumstances and obstacles, they have to push on to research and study this unknown civilization.
