    SOS! Can people with softer voices still have a music career?

    I've always had a more softer voice when I sing, and I have a lot of trouble amplifying it.  A long time ago I read an interview with Baby Spice in which she admitted that because of this flaw she has specific techniques for the microphone like holding it closer etc. I really want to start performing but I am afraid that maybe my kind of voice just isn't meant to be.  My friend/mentor reminded me of people like Neil Young who have softer voices but are still powerful. Wondering if anyone else has faced the same obstacles, and if/how they bypassed this!

    I haven't faced these obstacles but when I think of soft voiced singers, I think of J.Lo and Ellie Goulding. Especially Ellie Goulding, she's big with the EDM/Synthpop genres. Her voice is soft and light (though it has power to it!!). The music that she sings really compliment her voice. Perhaps you don't really need to amplify your voice, but work around it, through different effects. Lowering the volume on back ground music, playing softer background music, repeating yourself (as part of the song and its lyrics).

    IF anything improve your voice so it can be more powerful while still being soft!! Soft is good, you just need to find a way to work with it!!!
