What are the 3 main correlations between being fired from a job & suicide?
In many instances, being fired from a job signals failure, even the end of a career/job. Many prospective employers view fired employees quite negatively. They are sometimes seen as pariahs by former bosses & co-workers alike. They are even considered to be damaged goods. Such factors have an impact upon the fired person, oftentimes leading to dejection, even more self-destructive forms of behavior.
This is a sad experience and I pray that nobody would experience the extremes of losing their life. For all life is precious to Almighty God.
People sometimes view situation, relationships as this is all life has to offer. It is like looking at a great movie . Then it ends, and you are dazzed that there is no more to see!
Then you find out months later there is a sequel or number 2 ,or. 3 . There is a great future ahead for all human kind. True things are out of order in this world now under mans control ,but not so far gone that Almighty God will and soon correct all our needs and suffering.
A job is a means to take care of ones self, and just like a person came upon that Job ,the next one could be even greater.
The old and wise use to say never put all your eggs in one basket,
And it is a poor mouse with only one whole to travel through.
The old and wise survive many hardships including the Great Depression
We can survive too !
People who identify themselves or their well being by their career, material possessions, or relationship status are likely to become extremely depressed if those things are taken away from them.
A job to such a person is not just a job. It's what makes them who they are! In order for one to become depressed the first step is to "shrink" their world.
They cannot or refuse to acknowledge that they have options. They don't won't to hear about the countless number of successful people who have been fired before it happened to them. They don't want to be told there are 50 states in the U.S. or 196 countries in the world and the odds are in their favor they could find a new job or even possibly start a business of their own!
Whenever we (choose) to shrink our world we eliminate options and hope. In fact having hope is the enemy of depression. Thinking beyond the "now" and imagining being better off in a year or two years is incomprehensible. Once you convince yourself that tomorrow will be just like today then it's natural to flirt with the idea of suicide. A person becomes someone who doesn't believe they have anything to "look forward to". In fact they do their best to (avoid) hearing good news, getting their hopes up, or being around others who are "happy".
The more we cut ourselves off from family and friends the more (alone) and disconnected from the world we feel. Being reminded that we're better off than other people doesn't make us feel any better about ourselves.
We wake up tired and we half-heartedly look for a new job but in all honesty we don't see any that we really want. Much like being dumped by the person you considered to be "the one". We don't move on because we (really) don't want to move on. We're forced to.
Most of us eventually get tired of being sick and tired and decide to take whatever can and build something from there. Our pride kicks in and we decide we're not going to allow some (ex boss) determine the fate of our lives! In effect we stop feeling sorry for ourselves and we get PISSED off!
We start working out again, join networking groups on LinkedIn, Meetup.com, and make it our mission to rise from the ashes by doing whatever it takes! Every ending is a new beginning. Life goes on.
"The world may not owe you anything but YOU owe yourself the world!" Do your best to have the best! One man's opinion!
Wonderfully explained and and I appreciate how you explain ! To reach the heart, because anyone can walk in these shoes !
Thanks Kiss andTales! Experience is the world's greatest teacher.
