   What if I can't possibly stretch a topic to a 1,000 words?
   
   Need some advice. I'm getting ready to write some more heirloom tomato reviews. My goal is to set up all the individual tomato plant evaluations on a similar format. 400 - 600 words is about all I have to say. Should I combine 2 or 3 varieties to stretch the hub to 1,000 words? Will it take away value and interest for the individual tomato?

   Actually, if it meets the 700+ whatever is it on the evergreen scale, you should be fine.  Just put headings on all of your photos, as that bumps up the word count.

   Yes. Combining 3-4 varieties is best. make sure to put each category info in separate text capsules. Make sure to give a title in the title box of the text. Insert photos for each variety.  Add a quiz at the end if possible (something like: Which variety of tomato is your favorite...)

   i usually write 700 words although 1000 is better. Try to add in sub headings and related ideas to the tomatoes like the biggest tomato in history, the color, cultivating and different country tomatoes, you should get 700 words for these

   I feel your pain! Getting to the magic 1000 words is impossible for me. Personally, I would limit each hub to one variety of tomato
   I think you will get more page views. Because people tend to search by variety. One way I have tried to eke out a better word count is to take a fact or facts that really doesn't fit well with my format and put it in a colored box in my hub. I get more facts in without ruining my flow and the words count towards my total. Good luck to you!

   Yes it does happen, may be with the prolific writers. While I agree with  the suggestions given here, I'd also recommend that you stop writing and working on that topic totally. Even shut your mind. Do something else. After couple of hours ( sometimes minutes) new ideas will flash in your mind. This can be like a small stream or a water fall.

   This is a factor in the ratings system that bothers me as well. I would much rather see 600 to 800 words that are clear and concise and contain excellent content than 1,000+ words that are rambling, poorly constructed, with gramatical mistakes and (even) misspellings. In HP it seems that quantity trumps quality. I have read all of your hubs since I started following you, and all of them are very well written. May I paraphrase Field of Dreams and say "if you write it they will come"?
