Is the salvation prayer the only requirement to getting into heaven?

   Is the salvation prayer the only requirement to getting into heaven?
   
   I am a believer that Jesus Christ is the One and Only Way to the Father, but is the 'Salvation Prayer' enough or is there more to it?

   It kinda depends on what sect you talk to really. Some, like the Pentacostals, believe in a strict adherence to God's Laws and Commandments and some even hold you can *Lose* your salvation. Others believe that the Salvation Prayer, if it is honest and earnest, is enough and if that wasn't enough we've also got others who claim it's a three step process involving feeling the Holy Spirit, doing the Salvation Prayer, AND getting Baptized.

   Romans 10:9,10..."that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
   
   The prayer alone is not what saves you, but it's what's inside your heart that does. When you are born again, you will have a changed heart and it will show in how you live your life. The Holy Spirit will lead you to a desire to be baptized; to declare that you have laid down the old life and risen up in the new, but baptism is not what saves you. The thief on the cross was saved by his faith. Jesus said to him, "Today you will be with me in paradise." There was no chance for baptism. Your prayer, if sincere from the heart, is what saves you. After that you should have a desire to do that which is right before the Lord. Your thankful heart will lead you to do good works to the glory of God. Revelation 3:16 is in reference to the church in Laodicea which developed an attitude of indifference to God. They were wealthy and didn't feel a real need for Him. Their lukewarm attitude is a heart issue.

   The "salvation prayer" is a bad joke, the fruit of the churches of men and not scripture.    Salvation requires RECOGNIZING  & ADMITTING ONE IS A SINNER AGAINST GOD,  TRULY REPENTING & CHANGING, THEN ACCEPTING THE BLOOD OF CHRIST AS PAYMENT FOR YOUR SINS AND THEN FOLLOWING HIM. No one is actually saved  before they die.   What the churches of men teach as salvation in most cases is not even correct the be called being born again.     Once a person is truly born again according to scripture ( not church doctrine) it is a beginning then one must "endure to the end"       it is so sad that most folks are taught church doctrine instead of scripture .     There are hundreds of church doctrines but only one correct scripture doctrine.          Being a Christian is not saying i believe in Jesus, it is a change to a totally new and different lifestyle and maintaining it for the rest of your life....

      Amen Charlie. God is an If/Then God, and the Then has not happened yet. We need to be race runners not pew sitters. It is hard to be a hypocrite following and DOING what Christ preached. "Church" on the other hand makes it easy to be a Hypocrite.
