   Socialism or Capitalism for America?
   
   I personally vote capitalism for a number of reasons, but which one do you think would make this country better, more successful, stronger for the future.

   We already have both and the mixture works fine.  Examples of socialism in US:  public libraries and schools, fire and police departments, and the interstate highway system.  There are many countries who are primarily socialistic and they do better than us in many areas: health care for their citizens and incidents of crime, particularly crimes that involve guns.  Don't get me wrong, I don't want to live in any of them.  I like America and, unlike so many others, I see us getting better with each generation.

   I believe as much as many people may cry about the various entitlement programs the vast majority of people don't want see the government do away with minimum wage laws, unemployment insurance, Social Security, Medicaid, Medicare, Free public schools, and a host of other programs that are subsidized with tax revenues. It's unlikely we'd ever completely turn our backs on children, the elderly, the sick, mentally ill, and the poor altogether.
   Having said that what makes America great is capitalism along with the belief that it's possible to succeed if you come up with a good idea/product. We have more millionaires/billionaires per population.

   If by capitalism you mean a free market, then yes capitalism is far better as long as the rule of law is impartially enforced.  I see socialism as meaning a centrally planned or government run economy. Central planning by enlarge is a huge failure, it breeds corruption, shortages, misallocation of resources and tyranny.
   
   Man's natural state is freedom; therefore any arrangement that constricts freedom is contrary to nature and doomed to fail. The free market provides a built in accountability in that those who fail to satisfy the customer will be put out of business. If resources are misallocated your business will die, on the other hand the government has no such accountability and no bottom line to meet. The government can only provide what it first extracts from the private sector and its edicts are backed by police power. If you don’t like a business  you have the power to take your business elsewhere but the government has a monopoly.
