Do you feel that there should be privatization of government jobs in America whether it is at the

local, state, and federal level? Many government jobs are repetitive, nonessential, and a waste of taxpayer's monies.  It would be better for the American economy if at least 50% of civil service jobs be eliminated while the rest be privatized.

No. Government jobs tend to provide more humane wages and benefits, where privatized jobs are subject to the whims of a corporation whose primary concern is profits. Case and point, my part-time government job pays higher than the minimum wage and includes vacation, sick, personal, and bonus time to be used as needed. By contrast, people working at McDonalds or Wal-Mart (who work full time) can't pull themselves out of poverty and have to fight for measly benefits. Even when the government tries to raise the minimum wage, or require sick days, an army of lobbyists, from those companies, fights tooth and nail to prevent it.

Government employees, particularly those at the local/state levels, are underpaid. Also most of their jobs can be done more efficiently by private companies. The American economy would be much better if at least 50% of government jobs are ELIMINATED.

    Sir,
I am an Indian and our nation still has mixed economy with large section of society reeling under poverty.Over the years our rate of social mobility
is rising but government job is the security for survival of one family of four .
Our economy was  coupled to global economy so we are facing problems what advanced nations are facing today.
Developed nations with matured economies  can do experiment of public to private changeover. like corporate s  and entirely on profit basis.
Government is an institution which runs nation and governs community, economy and global affairs
In India also some public sector jobs have been given to private contractors to save cost.Yes,  productivity is an issue where government employees could not compete.
