Why is it that the more work I put into my account, the more my hubber score drops?

A couple weeks ago, my hubber score was 94, so I publish one more hub before I went to bed. In those two weeks I have been more active in the community, hub hopping, editing my current articles, and basically spending more time and energy on this website than I had before. Why is it that the more work I put in the lower it goes? I know we are told not to pay attention to it but come on.. of course I am going to look at the number the site uses to grade me as, well, my grade?

A good question that many Hubbers have been asking for years.  It has to do with the fact that new Hubs start out low and then rise, affecting your Hubber score.  Kind of lame, but it is what it is.  They just revised how the Hubber score is calculated, but obviously did not address that aspect of it.  The really bad thing is that if someone leaves HubPages for a year or two, their Hubber score will rise, while anyone toiling away here has to see it go down when new Hubs are published.  Makes no sense to me, but I don't run this site.

Your Hubber score is frankly a mystery. As you have seen yourself, it can go down when it should really be going up and when you are inactive it can go up.

As long as it stays above 75 then I wouldn't worry about it to be frank. Concentrate on what you can control rather that concern yourself with the unsolved mysteries of the universe smile

mine is the same, My hub score was 96 but after that it dropped 76, when I edit and update my hubs, it maintain around 77, 78 and drop back again. I think is the number of hubs I comment and the number of questions I answer. If I answer 10, comment 10, drop, if I do more, up.

The severity of the drop is what blows me away. Thank you for your response!
