What are some interesting packaging ideas for handmade crafts?

I am in soap and scrub making mode again, getting ready for some seasonal fairs and I am looking for some new and interesting ways to maybe package my products to get them seen and remembered.  I've wrapped soaps in washcloths before, and with simple paper or fabric strips, and they are cute, but I am looking for some new and unique ideas.  So crafty ladies - what interesting methods do you use for packaging your items?

My daughter has taken some Starbucks glass drink containers and painted them.  I saw your question and realized that those containers or other glass jars would make a nice way to package.  You wouldn't have to paint, just clean them and wrap burlap or other fabric around top with a ribbon.

I love your washcloth idea!  I think people really respond to packaging that looks (or is) made from recycled materials.

How about using something like the net bags that veggies like onions and potatoes come in and tying it off with a pretty bow?

Or some type of origami box, like what Chinese food comes in (you'd have to buy these boxes new)?

Or cutting small pieces of wood (like pallet wood), maybe cut 3 or 4 inches square, and tying your soap on to it with some colored ribbon?

Maybe find a way to use those cute paper cups that you make cupcakes in?  These paper liners are inexpensive and come in a lot of different colors and patterns.  Or wrap your soaps and jars of scrub in small paper doilies with some ribbon!

I think it's most important to include your name and business contact info on a creative and eye-catching card so they remember you and can find your products in the future!  Good luck!

These are great answers so far.
One thought is if you design soaps to use as gifts for men, an old leather jacket could yield some great wrappers tied with contrasting twine or cloth. On that same note, leather baskets or trays are quite popular: https://nz.amara.com/shop/brand/undercover/all-trays
Another could be to make wrappers out of two layers of wax paper up using used crayons: http://bktribe.blogspot.com/2012/02/val … -kids.html

For your soaps how about toilet paper/paper towel rolls?   You can cut 1" sections and use them as molds and leave them packaged that way.You can paint them or just leave them as is and put a simple stamp on it.  You could also buy cheap aluminum foil or cellophane from the 99 cent store and package them like kisses with a small decorative ribbon.

I like this tutorial for a DIY bottle cap lip balm container. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVlqsMpTyhg

You could try some of those small gift boxes (for jewelry etc) at the craft stores for some individual/specialty soaps. It would be simple and easy to use some raffia or ribbon wrapped around it for decoration. This time of year, they have packs of 3 and 5 for the Christmas season, but they also have packs of plain white boxes as well for a reasonable price.

I've used items as simple as, baggies with colorful pictures or characters, and tied a bow. I also have used little see-through bags, I make or purchase. You can purchase really inexpensive small gift bags, from
Oriental Trading Company. I've seen them as cheap as 12 for $2.95. Some are thin cloth some are cellophane.
