I'm an ex Squid, I followed all my friends, they are no longer here, would you unfollow them?
I get very few views so would it be better to follow new members, also would my profile score go up?
I know some former squids became quite discouraged and are inactive. Someday, they may come back.
I'd say, don't unfollow them, but do follow some new people who are active here. It seems to me that asking and answering questions here has boosted my profile score.
Traffic in-house for your hub doesn't seem worth pursuing. I find Pinterest works best for me.
Thanks, Virginia. It's nice to have another squid answer this question, very true they may come back. I will start following other members and forget about deleting other squids. I miss them.
I was a Giant Squid and been inactive for the last while, but not because I'm discouraged. It's because life offline has kept me away.
Hi AnnaMKB nice to see you comment, I was a giant squid also.
Looking forward to seeing you around when you find time.
Happy days writing.
Some of us are still here. I wouldn't take the time to unfollow anyone. What's the point, and like Virginia said, they may come back.
Thanks for commenting. Nice to see you are still here, have a great day.
Maybe it's because I never got hooked on Squidoo or maybe it's because I have just been on HP so long, but what is the point of following people you aren't reading and aren't reading your articles? I can't even remember the last time I followed someone. Personally I try to stick to the rule, if I'm not reading I'm not following, and since I have limited time on HP I KNOW there is no chance I will be able to keep up with hundreds of people. So I follow the important ones that I really enjoy reading.
I'm also not sure I understand part of your question. Are the previous Squids the only people you are following? Have you made connections here that had nothing to do with Squidoo? You should follow people you enjoy no matter where they came from. If you aren't getting many views it may be beneficial to follow people with common interests in writings. They may at least help get your articles shared. I have multiple accounts here, and I follow different people on all accounts, trying to focus on finding people I have things in common with on each one.
Also I try to remind myself not to depend on views within HP. Focusing on keywords and social media are my priorities. Who you follow has no impact on your score.
Thanks for an interesting comment, I'm following other hub writers not only Squidoo writers. If someone follows me I follow back as I always find some subject interesting in their articles
It would be better to concentrate on ways to build traffic outside of HP instead of putting too much weight/emphasis on "following" other HP members. That's the only way to build real, meaningful traffic and views to articles.
Really, part and parcel of the entire collapse of Squidoo was an over-reliance on liking/sharing/"blessing" that went unchecked for far too long, among certain cliques and circles of Squidoo writers. Inferior lenses rose to the top of the Tier pile by this kind of behavior, and now we see the end result of that.
Yes I agree you are right about Squidoo, I will try to create more traffic else where.
People come and people go, and I still follow writers I haven't heard from in a long time. Sometimes I get a nice surprise when they are back. I wouldn't put too much stock in unfollowing people unless I know for sure that they won't be back.
Very true, good answer.
Has been a good result from asking this question as it has given me food for my thought's and put my mind to rest about the subject.
Good question. I think if I went through the thread of those I'm following, I'd find a good percentage are no longer here...and have probably been long gone. One day I suppose, when I have spare time (yeah, that'll happen!).....I should go through and delete them. It's no Big-ee.
Elsie.....You'd be further ahead if you simply began reading lots and lots of hubs.....especially those written by hubbers you've never read before.....That's how the relationships/connections begin.
Before you know it, you'll have more followers, more views and you'll be following more writers. Just go one day at a time! Good luck.
I like your comment, it comes from the heart. Thanks!
Hi, Elsie. As you know, I too, came over from Squidoo. There are some things I miss about it, and some things I'm glad HP doesn't have. It does seem more professional without all the silly quests, etc. That said, I seem to have lost heart on HP. There is no way to know who "liked" your hubs, or who clicked on "useful", "interesting", etc., so I can't go read one of their hubs in return. I'm still here, but not very active lately. Whenever you post that you have a new hub, I read it, but don't always leave a comment. The main reason I'm disheartened is that my highest traffic hubs are not ranked very high. In fact, some are rated very low. Go figure. Please don't unfollow your old friends. Many of us are still around.
If you have time to go through and eliminate those names, by all means, do so. If you like the looks of the high number of "followers" on your profile page, don't bother.
Yes, it's good to follow some new members because that encourages them to keep writing. We're all connected here at Hub Pages. Our collective good efforts seem to put HP in good standings with Google, etc.
You should be writing, promoting your hubs a bit through social sites, and editing those which don't seem to be doing so well.
Wishing you every success here at HP!
P.S. Don't worry about scores. They can be an encouraging guideline, but mean nothing when it comes to payout. Blessings!

I am literally sick and tired of people who follow you, and then, when you follow them back, they promptly unfollow you. Really, people? What do you do when someone unfollows you shortly after you follow them? Do you hunt them down and unfollow them as well? Do you send them mail saying what they...

Has anyone noticed this problem? I was looking at people that follow me and noticed that many of them are showing that I don't follow them when I know that I always have. Has anyone noticed this problem too?

What makes you decide to un-follow a fellow hubber?Have you un-followed someone here in Hubpages? What made you do so?

Why do followers stop following ?I have lost 3 followers this week for no apparent reason. I wonder what people's reasons are for unfollowing each other. Why follow in the first place? My suspicious mind tells me it is people who only followed me originally to try to increase their own flock of...

Dear Hubbers. I've recently noticed so many changes on Hubpages. I had no internet for a week and upon my return things look so different. I like the cleaner white pages with the underline beneath the titles. The column width seems narrower, while now advertisements show up on both left and right...

Just an fyi for someone I noticed (and who will remain nameless). And for any other newer folks who didn't know.
