Do you favor 'live for the day' or 'focus your energies on a life-plan' as your philosophy?
Advice comes to us from everywhere. Some of this hones in on two very popular concepts.
pluck the day
grab the chance
smell the roses
OR
Think it through
Focus your energies
-------------------------
Today, right now, is all we really have. In a moment our world can come crashing down on us, and we no longer have choices. OR
How can you know where you will end up if you dont know where you are going?
You need to have a long term vision to focus your time, your resources to get to where you want to.
Which sits well with you and can you tell us why?
As with everything there has to be room for both. You need long range ideas and plans to have direction in your life. At the same time, if you pin your hopes for happiness only on future goals, your happiness will always remain in the future.
You can have goals and dreams, and still be willing to make the most of opportunities today. The key is flexibility - not becoming too stuck on your plans, but having an idea and working towards it. If you are open minded and see an opportunity to do something differently pop up - you'll be willing to give it a shot.
Both are reasonable principles and equally valid.
I would like both so I could live for today but I know I will live for tomorrow as well. Life is too short to be stressing myself with so much future plans and forgetting what is in front of me. I would like to worry about todays living rather than worrying too much about how am I going to be rich in 10 years time. I want to balance both living for today and also making plans about my retirement. I want to enjoy living for today and tomorrow and the rest of my life. To be honest I don't really have much plan for the future but to live each day as it comes because since I finished my studies, all my future plans had to be altered due to a tragedy that happened in my family so since then I just don't plan too much but I would be sensible and make sure I have enough to live on when I am old.
Each of these two responses deserve the label 'best answer'. Each was well thought out, clearly stated and to the point. Thank you ladies.
I had to use the 'eeny, meeny, miney, mo" method to finalise this.
Great replies from Christin Sander and from Linda Bryen!
