In Marriage, we had the Man and Wife, how do we reference the couple today?
Man and Wife, or Mister and Misses were the references of traditional marriages, but what are the references since the SC decision on marriage?
Seriously, I have no idea. Who wears the wedding ring, or is it rings.
What is the new age salutation for the married couple?
Correctly, we refer to men and women who are married as husband and wife (not man and wife, which was abandoned sometime late in the last century).
Some gay couples call their spouses husband, so it's husband and husband. Likewise, some lesbians call each other wife, so it's wife and wife. If you're not sure, just ask the couple, and they'll tell you.
In all marriages, both parties usually wear a wedding ring or band, which is exchanged during the wedding ceremony. These days, not all couples, gay or straight, opt to wear rings.
In the same fashion, engagement rings are now sometimes worn by men and women, but are not always worn. Sometimes, these are given at the time of the proposal, and sometimes, they're chosen afterward. It's really up to the couple.
I've been to weddings where both brides wore white gowns with trains, where one opted for a dress and the other opted for a suit or pantsuit, and where both brides wore suits. However, I've never been to a wedding where both grooms didn't wear suits or tuxedos or suits, but I suppose anything is possible. Again, totally up to the couple, and their style.
So husband for gays, and brides for lesbians. No differentiation between the married couple. And no difference in the ring, as we have in traditional marriage. Thanks
Husband for gays, wife for lesbians. Grooms for gays, brides for lesbians. Wedding bands for both spouses, just like any other marriage.
Except, that gays and lesbians only have half of other marriages that don't have two of the same labels.
BTW, where do Bisexuals fit into marriage, do they pick a hat, so to speak for their marriage salutations.
What is the new Mr. Mrs salutation?Thx
I think you need to check your math, or stop referring to same gender marriage as somehow less than any other marriage. You really don't know what you're talking about.
I have asked questions, and you turn this into a personal tantrum on your part.
If you can't answer my ?, please don't visit questions, because I solicit information thru ?s
But that doesn't mean I can't ask more ?s, All valid ?s There is a big diff
There seems to be a theme to your questions, Brad. Hope we can help
Whilst I'm not in the US we do have Marriage Equality in my country so I will answer from that perspective.
My wife and I are Ms and Ms only because we don't like Mrs (and my MIL is Mrs Park not us).
We are both referred to as wife by the other (eg I call her my wife, and vice versa).
We both wear wedding bands - not because we don't want a stone (but we didn't) but due to the nature of our jobs we can't have raised rings (health care professionals - raised rings cause skin tears).
No new age salutation that I know of. We use just the same references just doubled up on one gendered reference.
So there is a difference because there is no salutation that covers same sex. I am not confused just ignorant
It's my understanding that women are referred to as being wives and men are referred to as being husbands regardless of their sexual orientation. Their "titles" don't change because they're gay.
An adopted child of a gay couple identifies their parents as having two dads or two moms. Gays and lesbians aren't considered transgender. They have no interest in becoming the opposite of their own gender. Gay men/women identify themselves by their gender.

As a Christian married man is it a sin to lust in my heart for my wife?On occasion I um pleasure myself thinking about her. I was wondering though. Am I committing a sin for lusting after her? It doesn't feel like it's wrong but I was wondering what my brothers and sisters in Christ might say.
