   How important is safety to you as a personal issue?  Do you always make sure your doors are locked?

   I lock my doors when I am sleeping or when I leave to go to the store or work. I leave the doors unlocked while I am awake and when I take the dog out for walk.
   I think I feel more comfortable leaving the doors unlocked while I am awake, because I am alert and able to respond to any situation that might arise.
   I tend to be a heavy sleeper, so I want to make it as hard as possible for someone to enter my home while I am sleeping. At night the doors are always locked and dead-bolted.

   Yes! I lock my doors as soon as I enter the house! I even lock my door that leads into the garage. And if I'm watching Criminal Minds and get scared, I place a bunch of stuff in front of my doors so it's loud if someone opens the door.

      Criminal Minds has always been one of my favorite shows and I am currently binge-watching episodes since it is on Netflix. Perhaps this is why I am extra cautious and always make sure I have something I could use to defend myself with.

   For me personal safety is about being aware of your surroundings and knowing how you'll react to any given situation. So I usually only lock the doors at night and of course I sleep with the bedroom door closed, but during the day I'm not too concerned.

   I always lock the door, whether it's to my house or car.
   I've heard many stories of people leaving their cars unlocked to run and grab something and come back to find things stolen within seconds.
   People are shady, you can't trust anyone, always protect yourself and your belongings.

   We live in the sprawling suburbs of a big city. Although our neighborhood is pretty safe, we see occasional crime reports of daytime burglaries and home invasions. We keep the doors locked during the night and check the cars too. During the day, we will leave the front door unlocked but the screen door will be secured unless we are actively going in and out. Our dog will alert us to approaching strangers, and we are always cautious before opening the door. We make a habit of setting our alarm when we go out. It's a practical approach, not one of fear.

   I make sure that all the doors are closed in the day time as well as in the night. I have watched serials of investigation like 'CID' and the serial depicting the real life incidents 'Crime Patrol' for years. So i try to be alert .

   I grew up in Oakland CA, which was RIFE with violence.  I now live in Hilo, which is extremely mellow.  To this day, I marvel at the ability to walk down the street, see a group of young men, and not have to fear being verbally accosted.  It took a long time for me to get over my paranoia.  I"m still working on it.  I'm so glad the whole world isn't Oakland;!

   I grew up on the north side of Chicago and violence was always a problem/fear. although i have a security system in place, I always check to see if the doors are locked out of habit.

    To update my post I wanted to add that I also have a lot of glass doors in my house. So not only do I close all the doors and blinds before going to bed, but I also have an alarm system in case of a break-in. It costs me a lot to maintain it, but I'm willing to pay good money for my security. But I think I should replace the door in the living room on the 1st floor because I installed it a long time ago. I found a lot of good solid doors (prefinished interior and front doors) and I think I will choose one of them. Would you install glass doors in your living room?
