Should there be an age limit for anyone attending and graduating college?

Is it a waste of money allowing someone to attend college after the age of 70?
Are the colleges and universities taking advantage of a senior?

No - there should be no age limit to attend college. In the case of senior citizens it is important to keep the mind alert and educated as long as God wills. I admire senior citizens who strive to continue learning for a more enriched life. I knew of  a senior citizen who went back to college at the age of 72 and earned his Masters in psychology. He became a popular and admired psychologist with many clients.

I don't think so. An age rule for attending and matriculating would limit the choice for older people who want to go back to college and get their degree. It would also limit those who decide late in life that they want another degree. Besides, wouldn't that be age discrimination?

yes age discrimination, I guess I was wondering if the seniors were being taken advantage of.

No. My mother and I attended college at the same time, and she was about 50 when she received her master's degree. She spoke several languages, and was an excellent, patient teacher to those who didn't speak English yet. Why deprive an education to someone who wants to learn, regardless of their age?

No. Education is not always about pursuing a career.
People should have the right to attend college at any age.
Graduating from college is a {personal accomplishment} for many folks. Each of us is also entitled to have our own "bucket lists".

Nooooo! Education is something valuable for all ages. It is vital for Seniors to keep their minds sharp and acute in order to keep a healthy mind. Being a student also has its physical advantages too, with the way parking is and the way classes are spaced, you can get a ton of healthy exercise.

As far as universities taking advantage of our older citizens, this is why it is important to have advisors and staff available to all students. If an advisor is seeing that you are struggling to keep good grades and seem to be in an overall decline, they can easily recommend stopping or slowing down. So I think this is where professors, advisors, and other staff members can make our senior students more comfortable. I know as a future professor I would definitely step in if I think that a senior is being taken advantage of, and I know many professors that would do the same.

Now, it may be a waste of money as far as how expensive college is nowadays, but that is for another question! lol
