Hey has anyone here been told they are not a Christian because they do not agree with a person?

I have noticed that some folk read the Bible and then tell others that their way of thinking makes them not a Christian. Some people think that they are guided by the Holy Spirit so what ever they say is absolute truth and if you disagree you are not Christian. Like if you have the audacity to attend church you are not a Christian. Are you OK with that?

You could say this about any group, when differing opinions come into play.

For example, I'm vegan, and I constantly see vegans slamming each other about not being vegan (or vegan enough) because they do this or that, or aren't active in animal rights, or don't go to vegan events.

How many times have we all seen someone called out for being "not black enough", for having a different way of presenting themselves than the person disagreeing with them?

I think what these people are really saying is that you aren't doing it like me, so you must not be what I am. There's more than one way to approach anything, and we all have to be flexible enough to recognize that our own way is not the only way.

Hey friend, I can call you that after nearly 2 years of knowing you. You certainly are a member of my group that writes and shares opinions so that we may grow. I think I choose to have friends.

Lisa: "You aren't doing it like" GOD said is what one should be concerned with! If Scripture is given, those who wish SALVATION would "search to see if so" (Acts 17:11) or continue sideshow by voicing "their opinion!"

...aaaand Norine is Exhibit A to make my point. It's her way, or the highway. Everyone MUST believe EXACTLY what she does. But the world isn't really like that. People believe different things, and interpret the Bible different ways.

Looking at the beautiful diversity of people it sure seems like that is the master plan Lisa.

Lisa: Why would Satan enter you to say "Norine's opinion" when I've given WORD?
Eric, see how demons enters one so TRUTH will not be received?  Be careful!  Learn how to discern!  STUDY Scriptures when given! Don't listen to me or him just WORD!

Look how Satan comes to divert TRUTH given so It won't be received!  Learn to discern!  WORD was given, he speaks against!  Who do you think that is - JESUS?
He's rt "the world" but we aren't concerned w/"the world," ONLY GOD'S WORD!

I agree with Lisa regard other situations and generalities. But, to answer the question it is 'yes'. My first recollection where that impacted my life deeply was when joining a new congregation or place of worship many years ago when in middle school. I was told my baptism didn't count. I was baptized as a infant in a Presbyterian congregation.

Thus, indoctrinated and baptized in those early teens in an American Baptist church as an adult. Then arrives later in life after moving across the country and joining an independent non-denomination fellowship in my early twenties. Once again I learned I had done it wrong . . . So, today, I live happily being wrong.

YOU can be "happy living wrong," but is GOD?  READ Word for yourself!  We NOW live under New Covenant & should be baptized as were disciples before JESUS ascended  (Acts 1 & 2)!  Otherwise; U r "living happily wrong!"

That's the same level of intolerance as many atheists exhibit on hp. I try to talk religious bigots out of it but they also use stereotypes to the exclusion of logic. It's related to a serious human failing called terminal ego. Certan atheists (not all!)  are seizing on  a few religious nuts to justify their own bigoted stereotyping.

OZ: Either one believes there is a CREATOR or not (I Cor 10:21)!
If not, provide a book with as many "fulfilled" prophecies written before Bible or your analogy fails!

I think there is some truth to this Oz.

What are you doing Eric, just "making friends?"  What a crock!  You don't care what JESUS said, just "friendships?"  What a waste!
I Jn 2:15-17!  READ instead of "kissing up!"

Yes, mostly by liberals who want to say God's mandate for charity should be through the state, when Jesus clearly separated the role of the state from charity and religion.

I had not seen that notion as one of a Christian notion before Tamara.

There are Christians in liberal denominations who are socialists thinking a bigger states fulfills the Christian mission.

One has to ask; Do both Christian and Gov. have a good purpose in helping the less fortunate. Why would it be one or the other? I know a Christian congregation that has no food pantry for the poor. Strange to my thinking.
