   Has American society since the 1960s become somewhat less patriotic in its orientation?

   Liberalism has adopted the stance that nationalism is bad, that national pride by Western nations is immoral, that children should be citizens of the world.
   So American children are taught that having American pride is bad, but don't you dare fail to endorse Mexican pride on Cinco de Mayo in US schools.

   It is a lot easier to be patriotic when you are coming off a war where the view is the U.S.A. versus some other Country. During the 1940s you had WWII where people sold war bonds, and had to ration; During the 1950's you had the Korean War; 50-70s you had the Vietnam War; and the 80s you had the ending of "cold war" the which began decades ago (cold war not really a war, but almost caused war with the Soviets). Today the U.S. does not have a war against a particular country.  Some people view the U.S. as fighting radical Islamists (but they can be from various countries, including home grown in the U.S.). Even the Gulf War never really garnered an us vs them feeling as the Iraqi forces gave up so easily. Americans still love America, however, that fervent feeling of super patriotism unfortunately only comes about when their is an us vs them (with the them being a specific country) comes about. Otherwise, people tend to focus on day to day living.

      I can see how patriotism and war could have a link.
      During World War I & World War ll young men often ran down to enlist into the military. However today many question the government's decision to enter into wars.
      We don't trust politicians!

   I believe so.
   Prior to the 1960s most citizens trusted and believed everything their government told them.
   However things started to change right around the JFK assassination/Warren Commission and the expansion into Vietnam, followed by Watergate, Iran-Contra, and numerous other scandals.
   Whether one is liberal or conservative they both believe the opposition political side of government is attempting to take away (their personal freedoms). Essentially it's two sides of the same coin.
   Claiming to be patriotic and hating the government is kind of an oxymoron. However our freedom to have dissension with our government separates us from communist and Muslim states.

      Then the founders of our country were not patriots.
      Also, the chilling of our freedom in the 21st century, then should bring us closer to communism and Muslim states.
      The minorities have misused the constitution so that we are not the gimmee country
