   To analytical & logical people out there, what comes to mind when you see a family of 6-more

   Depends on the family. But then the same is true on a family of five or fewer with me. There are families with one child that frankly worry me, and there is a family with 9 kids that I admire.

      Large families are poor & uneducated.  They have parentified oldest/older children. Parents are mostly uninvolved, parents in name only-nothing else. Mothers p****out kid after kid after kid....fathers working endlessly to keep up but never make

      I would have to agree completely.with McKenzie, we.have an only child neighbor and he is 7 told my son to F@$! Off. so I believe parenting is the key role here.

      Perhaps the 7 year old child wanted to be left alone.  Maybe your child was pestering him.  Only children DON'T bother other children-they are well behaved.  It is other children who pester only children, have you thought about that?

   We are discussing the United States. What comes to mind is a poor, impoverished, or even penurious family.  This family is constantly fighting a losing socioeconomic battle as they are constantly struggling w/no end in sight. There is a dynamic in large families that clearly aren't present in small ones.  Parents are oftentimes stressed, worrying about making ends meet.  They are very bereft materially as there aren't monies for even the necessities.  Oldest children are oftentimes THE REAL parents of the family as the father is constantly working, never catching up socioeconomically as the family is ever-growing.
   
   One will note how unhealthy, even ill-kept the children are because they clearly aren't receiving the proper nutrition & health/medical care as such things are beyond the economic purview of large families.  Many times, children in large families are ill-nourished, even malnourished because of the lack of proper food & the older ones have to go to bed hungry in order for the younger ones to eat.  The children are wearing secondhand & cast off, inferior grade clothing that are donated from charities. I regularly gave away clothes to such children.  Again, large families can't afford regular clothing as such as expensive to the large family. Children in large families look lackluster because they can't afford products for their physical upkeep. 
   
   Many times, large families are viewed, even treated as outcasts by the rest of society.  People feel sorry for their impoverished condition. Some are even angry, wondering if such parents are so uneducated as to be unfamiliar w/family planning methods.  Some will even maintain that these parents are irresponsible, even selfish for having an unreasonable number of children that they clearly can't afford emotionally, mentally, psychologically, & most of socioeconomically. 
   
   One will oftentimes see shouting & even physical abuse because it is hard to control a large number of children.  One also sees very little hugging & interaction between children & parents in large families. One will see children who are raising themselves & each other.  One will see children who are highly contemptuous of children who have it better than they do & will even bully the latter children. Lastly, one will see children who are rough around the edges-uncultivated & unmannerly because they weren't exposed to cultural & intellectual activities as their parents' couldn't afford such.

   This isn't a fair but the first thing I always think when I see a family with a lot of kids is "They must be Catholic"

      It is the backward & uneducated who have large families.  There has to be something seriously psychotic for parents to have large families(in the US) in postmodern, 21st century society.
