What drugs were available at the time that might explain the perceived miracles in the bible?

What drugs or poisons do you think might explain some of the hallucinations and miracles perceived.  Perhaps lead poisoning or mercury or do you think they were high on something like opium?

you as most Christian bashers have no understanding of  "miracles".   They are an every day occurence today still for real Christ followers.
There are and never have been any medicines that provide INSTANT healings as provided The Holy Spirit of God.
There are no hallucinations recorded in the scriptures.   My guess is that you are referring to demon possession which is real and in fact you are most likely possessed by several ,based on your foolish question.
We Christians have no desire to hear your demonic theories, go play elsewhere.
Scripture has a name for the likes of you--Fool.
    Ps 53:1
The fool has said in his heart,
    "There is no God."

What a cynical question...or maybe it was deliberately thought up so you could get plenty of answers and so increase your own Hubpage rating score.   Yes, my cynicism to your question.

Charlie (celafoe) has what I regard as an accurate answer.   People in all ages - and it seems especially so when they are in great woe - have prayed in earnest to God (Even if they have no concept in their minds as to a particular godly figure) and have received immediate relief.   Miracles do happen.   Epiphanies do occur.   And once experienced are the high point in their lives and never forgotten.

Some prayers are not immediately answered.  Maybe even most are not.  That does not detract from the times that they are.

Seems to me it's the language people use, the terminology, which gets people's backs up.   No point in arguing about the merits of the various leaders after whom the great religions have been founded.   It wasn't the leaders who cause the divisions between humankind, but those who espouse those divisions.   But I'm getting away from your question.

Were there drugs or poisons involved?   I'd say, no.  Most of the people in biblical times probably hadn't even heard of the drugs we have today.   No, I see you reference to drugs simply to get yourself plenty of attention on this page...and I'm cynical enough to believe it will work.

tom- I never realized that they do that  but that explains a lot of garbage on here. I often wonder what would happen if people like him ever saw a dying person instantly healed up and walking around or a druggie high on several drugs instantly sober

There aren't a lot of options.  You can claim the stories are either true, heavily embellished, out right lies or delusions but you can't say they likely happened without first decided you are going to believe them regardless of facts.

mm- when you have seen & been involved in as many Dr verified healings and other miracles I have & you can still reject Christianity there will be no hope for you.   you will wish you had not played the fool at the judgement--

What do you suppose will happen at judgement?  Your god will say Michael used the logic that I gave him and the evidence that I presented and he came to the most logical conclusion.  Michael could have chosen any wacko belief but instead was sensible
