At the mention of the age of 70 brings to mind my age on my next birthday in may of 2017.

One should always look forward to new adventures whether it is education, travel, &/or further enlightenment.  70 now isn't what it was in previous generations.  Today's 70 is youthful & has discarded outmoded paradigms as to what it is to be 70.  This 70 year old is hip, aware, & ever changing.

This is the 70 year old who looks 40, wears a bikini & leather skirts (if female), if male, is in the BEST physical shape.  H/she can't/won't stop.  H/she is still rocking it.   This is the 70 year old that makes younger people NOT FEAR becoming old as we did when our grandparents were at that age.   The concept of 70 have changed over many generations from the crotchety old man/woman to the ever-active 70 year old of the World War II generation to the hip, cool 70 year old of the Silent generation & now some of us Boomers are hitting that 70 mark.  Nothing is going to change for this Boomer 70-h/she will rock & jam until ................ A NEW 70 is here folks!

I turned 70 in July of this year and have used the term septuagenarian every chance I get since then. It's new and exciting and different and I now look at the people around me from a whole different  perspective. Everyone said 30 was a turning point but it wasn't, then 40 was supposed to be the turning point, and it wasn't either. I thought maybe when I turned 65 and became eligible for Medicare things would feel different, but it was just another day. But 70 was really something, 70 was a big deal. I still live alone, take care of myself, support myself, am working on a BS degree in Information Systems Technology and maintain a 3.79 GPA, I still read and listen to music, both new and old (and of course classical), and do pretty much the same things I did 20 or 30 years ago. Sadly, not with the same people as they didn't make it to 70.

Still young and still so much to offer and achieve. Don't slow down - it could be permanent!
