He was campaigning. If he had said, It has been a pleasure and good-bye." Even that would have been too long.

It was a good speech....except I wished he had made it 8 years ago and followed some of his own advice.

It was the same slick politicians speech that got him into the presidency in 2008, and the differences are that he was thrashing senator Hillary Clinton, president GW Bush, and senator McCain, and Sarah Palin. To which I have no problem.
in 2017, he praises Hillary Clinton, and trashes Donald Trump.
What it proves is that slick speeches from Obama don't result in any positive change for the US and the people.
That is why we should always ignore the Rhetoric from politicians. Listening to feel good speeches is only 10 percent of making it happen. When Senator Obama said that he would change America, he didn't really use the word Positive. He did change America, he made it worse.
GW Bush didn't make it better after Bill Clinton and so on.
They all had speeches that promised a better America and a better life, but look at the record, it was just different kinds of failure.
The speech showed that he was trying to patch up his legacy that he built with words, when he should have listened to the pig (the story is about pigs, the animal) that built his house with bricks.

So, Obama's speech was trashing a house the Trump is trying to build and saying his house built on Rhetoric and not deeds is better.
Seriously, how is this ultra divided Obama America better for the people. A great president would put the country and the people ahead of their legacy. Their legacy is history, and it can't be changed for them. But the future of the US can be changed, and it should be changed to make it better and prosper. How can that be done, when the outgoing president basically says the new president is going to fail.

So, we should wait another four years of party politics overriding the good of the country, and then do this election between two parties that can't, won't, and continue to try and undo anything thing that might be good, just because it wasn't their idea.

The loyal party voters of both parties have reinforced this doom and gloom result. All Obama's speech did was ensure this will continue. Party politics over the country and the people. The republicans are also doing the same thing to a lesser extent with Trump.

The search for the guilty is not a solution to problems. It doesn't matter whether the left or the right Failed, the thing of paramount importance to focus on is that it Failed, and how do we fix it.  Purple is Red plus Blue.
