“If you died, how long would it take for someone to find you?” Read below for more details.

Joyce Vincent was 41 years old when she was found dead in her UK home in 2006, but she was 38 when she died. For three years, from 2003-2006, her body lay surrounded by Christmas gifts she was planning to wrap; the television still on.

    How does this happen?

Think about the people in your lives and think about whether or not there are any changes that you would want to make about the degree of connected-ness,....think about life, death and loneliness.

Hours. When my children get home from school or husband back from work.

When my godmother died last summer, I was called by her son and asked if I'd checked on her in the past few weeks. I'd called her the Friday before we left on vacation, several days prior. I was the last person to talk to her, and it was almost a week before someone found the body because the best guess was she'd died a day or two after the call. (Heart problems, MS, diabetes.)
A neighbor went to check on her due to mail piling up.

With those kind of health issues, was there not a nurse living with her?  I am just baffled when I hear stories like this.  Life gets so busy for everyone, and our loved ones get forgotten.  Sad, although I suspect it will happen to me, as well.

It may take a day or 2 for my husband to notice unless he wants some food cooked. Even then he may cook it and just think I am sleeping. My sister may come after 2 days if I don't return her calls. My son is too tuned in to youtube and video games so he wouldn't notice unless he runs out of food also.

The part about your son sounds all too familiar. I may hear yelling like, "Mom, there is no food in the house."  This basically means "there is nothing except a loaded fridge with food that I have to cook and I don't want to do that. Can you do it?"

But, why do you leave people lonely to live or die unnoticed?
If somebody lives in a hostel or a mess, there will be his roommates or friends. In a house, generally, other members of the family are there to notice within minutes or hours. During journeys, he should keep identity with contact numbers of people with him to get informed.
Proper importance is to be given to this reality of life (death).

I agree with you, Venkatachari, but in this day/age, many people live alone. Life gets so busy for others. It's an "everyone for themselves" kind of world.  I admire the Indian and Latin American cultures where multiple generations live together.

This is another example of someone who died and it took 3 months to find her, ........and her body was sitting in a car in a Walmart parking lot.  How does this stuff happen? In this case the woman committed suicide, but I still believe that 3 months is a long time to go by without someone missing her.
