Have you read the Gettysburg Address yet today?
I just published and got denied on a article which included the Gettysburg Address that my son and I read today. Too much duplicate content. What do you think about the Address?
It is one of the greatest speech made by an American President. When I was in jr. high school back in the 1960s, in NYC public school, we were all expected to learn it by heart and recite it in front of the class.
Do they even teach it these days? I wonder.
Jack, it is something everyone should have an opportunity to enjoy. It is so cool how relevant it is today.
Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth, upon this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.
Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived, and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met here on a great battlefield of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of it, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.
But in a larger sense, we can not dedicate we can not consecrate we can not hallow this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember, what we say here, but can never forget what they did here.
It is for us, the living, rather to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they have, thus far, so nobly carried on. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain; that this nation shall have a new birth of freedom; and that this government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.
The Gettysburg Address Is a good lesson for peoples all over the world and i feel that whoever denied the article should revisit for I am sure that it was good. Sometimes duplicate content is needed in an article to demonstrate the lesson therein.
Thanks for providing it. I read it a few months back. The last time before that was maybe high school in the early 70's. It does cause one to reflect on meaning especially in its context. I project that meaning onward to other wars we have fought and the nobility of our nation with its ideals of what freedom means. [Pause . . .]
Thanks Tim. Gives me goosebumps just reading it.
So that's what happened to the article! I tried to read it and couldn't.
What is strange Dana, is that on FB you can read it, by following the link to an unpublished hub. Makes me laugh. I think Pinterest has it also.
It just is so cool and not at all possibly copyrighted. I saw it at his memorial a few months back -- it

Should Obama show up at the 150th Anniversary of Lincoln's Gettysburg Address?I think it's one of the most moving speeches ever in our history. For those who are ignorant, it starts with "Four Score and Seven Years Ago..." Please read it, if you haven't before. It...

The President will make a national address tonight on the security crisis at the southern border. Initially the networks refused to air the speech, but soon realized it would be a terrible decision with Trump's high popularity among voters. The media will however allow Democrats who...

Lots of people gave me flack for saying the debate was very poorly moderated. I say Candy was very biased, but let's just focus on one example. I want someone who loves Obama to explain why this wasn't an example of bias. You can watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3ujxXuNgGsAn audience...
