   Why can't the Democrats put up a viable candidate in any election outside of their strongholds?
   
   An opportunity for the Democrats to gain ground in Congress, came and went yesterday, with upstart Jon Ossoff failing to reach the threshold to win a runoff in Georgia for a House seat.  This comes on the heels of other special election losses such as the one recently in Kansas.  Even with many people disagreeing with the President, it seems as if the Republican brand is currently favorable in the eyes of voters.  What will it take for Democrats to change course?

      I wasn't aware of Hillary Clinton's victory - but I am aware of the hundreds of house seats and state leadership positions the a Dems lost under Obama

   I really doubt the Democrats are currently capable of changing course.  Many of their policies are too far left for even some long time Democrats and they are losing part of their base.  Even some Democrats felt the pain from some of the Obama administrations poor decisions.  Party loyalty carries a lot of weight but is nothing compared to the frustrations of not being able to put proper food on the table for Democrats and others.
   
   The Democrat party is failing and lacking good leadership.  It will take a lot of new blood to get them back on track again.

      Dem policies R mediocre. They went out of their way to prevent 'too far left' Bernie from hijacking their party like Trump was able to hijack GOP. Plus GOP voters R FAR more loyal cuz they want abortion GONE - even so, many couldn't vote Trump.

   Ossoff received 48.1% of the vote, in a district that is heavily Republican. Not one of the 11 Republican candidates even came close to that. Handel, who will be facing Ossoff in the June election, received 19.8% of the vote.
   
   I would counter your assumption that this was bad for the Democrats with this: if the Republicans were really serious about this seat, and had their sh#t together, why did they field ELEVEN candidates? Why didn't they quietly choose one, and put an end to Ossoff before he got almost enough votes to win the seat in the primary?
   
   It's not over until the votes for the run off are counted in June. Let's just see what happens before counting the Democrats out.

      This benign comment was hidden because Trumpsters can't handle logical responses that challenge their thinking. I, for one, could care less about what the Dems are doing; and it looks like the GOP is being revamped. We'll see what happens.

   Look at the beginning of the last presidential election. The democrats put up only 5 people, and only Sanders, and Clinton were nationally known. The republicans put up 19 candidates.
   
   Out of the entire pool of democrats that could have been in the democrat primary, the pool still exists. This pool especially those in congress, have spent the last year doing nothing but criticizing Trump as candidate, as winner of the republican primary, as president elect, and then as the 45th US president.
   
   What have the democrats in congress done to pick out any of them to run in 2020? It seems like they only hate Trump, and that is not a winning campaign to win the presidency, as that was their campaign in 2016.
   
   How many democrats in congress win keep their jobs in 2018?
   It is sad, that the republicans have RINOs, I don't think there are any DINOs.
   
   As for Clinton winning the popular vote, then how can they support that and still say that the Russians influenced our election. Logic dictates that based on the popular vote the Russians helped Hillary and not Trump.
   
   And isn't the popular vote win, just another democrat red herring when you look at how the democrats lost all those seats in congress. Did the Russians do that as well?

   The same statement has been made about Republicans in the past. History has shown that every so often, the party becomes stale and unpopular and it has to have a house cleaning. It's the Dems turn to clean house, and the pendulum will swing back the other way when people once again get tired of pandering to big business.
