Do you believe that American culture & society will become more debased BEFORE becoming better? Why?

    Why not?

You think it could become more debased? We've got people who are insisting we call men women, and call women men. That's debased. We've got fascist who call themselves anti-fascist, and we've got people who think it isn't racism when one's racist against white persons. All debased things. We are debased.

No i dont. I think the debased will be marginalized, as it should be.  We will go back to keeping religion out of gvt, and return to common sense.
These arrogant kooks who think they have a lifeline to god should find an island to live on. They can all blow each other up for their own personal, humanized, made in their own image god.
Leave the rest of us the hell alone.

Hmmm. Been reading this for a while: strategy of right wing to demonize democrats...eric trump says dems are "not even people". And we are supposed to "get along" with this? Pullleeaze. Fight it! Mind wars. Or as lennon said, mind games. forever

I think as long as Trump is president, his lying, racism, condoning violence in his rallies, lashing out at head of states, name calling ridiculing of anyone or anything that is a threat to him, and his narcissistic need to be admired and loved by his supporters creates a new norm for our culture and society, especially for those who felt the way he does, but were afraid to express themselves.

Now he makes it O,K, for them to come out and express themselves in the same way he does.  As long as we have a president that sets these type of examples, there will be those in our society and culture that will become more debased.  I don't think  they are in the majority, but as long as he is president, we will be seeing and hearing more of his acts by others.

Fifty years ago, homosexuality was argued as this and now it is a protected class by the government.
Several years ago, transgenderism was changed from a mental disorder treated with counseling to rectify mind with body to say "you're not happy with your body, hormones and surgery to alter it are required!" ... and parents who disagree risk losing their children in some states and Ontario per its new law, while multiple states ban "treatment" except endorsing the mental illness. Plus the demands that we let people identify as an opposite sex and use those facilities without having had surgery, the risk in what they say is a rape culture of men using such whether to peep or rape is pooh-poohed while they call women scared of the an in the changing room evil bigots.
The APA is debating whether pedophilia is a sexual orientation, and Salon has a writer who regularly describes it as such.
So yes, we can go lower.
