Then returns to America and his eight million dollar [2nd ]mansion and begins adding on a indoor pool and another wing to the house? While spending his newly acquired wealth of twenty million dollars since 2016 ?
Can anybody spell Hypocrite ?
Reminds me of Al Gore and his push to have us reduce our carbon footprint while jetting to his speaking engagements in a private jet.
Retired politicians. Why common people think they understand our world is difficult to fathom.
Why with you folks are there always differing standards? so Barack Obama has financial resources, did not Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan, JFK or George Bush? It just seems to me when ever black people do the things other former presidents do, they now become hypocrites. I suppose a man with a Doctorate in Law having a wife with a Masters Degree should just return to the ghetto? They are both successful in their own right, even if Mr. Obama never became President of the United States. I keep getting the impression and my wife concurs that white folks resent black people having ANYTHING at all. It is an ugly perspective, but it seems one that many of you work hard to earn.
??? Where did race come into this thread? No one has mentioned race...except right here, when you declare it all to be racist?
What do you think is being implied here,Wilderness? The complaint about Obama has racist undertones, you can't see that? Is the fact that Obama is wealthy make him a hypocrite? I don't see that complaint levied against ex-presidents in general....
It seems All you ever get out of any conversation is your own racism Credence ? I am calling out Obama for lecturing the African people about how wealthy people don't need multiple mansions and all that comes with it AND Then returns to the USA and does the exact same thing he's lecturing about in his speeches .
What has that to do with racism ? Except to you !
I clearly understand what Ahorseback is stating. He is indicating that Obama is a HYPOCRITE for lecturing wealthy Africans about their lifestyle while he does the same. Obama is saying do AS I SAY, NOT AS I DO. Yes, Obama is being hypocritical. He criticizes the wealthy lifestyle while he is doing the same thing as other wealthy people. RACE has nothing to do w/it, Credence2. Obama & Michelle are the BIGGEST hypocrites. I have to concur w/Ahorseback & Wilderness on this one, Credence2.
Can you be specific as to what part of the Obama speech you are referring to? You found something and I have the text of his speech with was long. What specific passage, I did not see anything about multiple mansions and such....
was this it?
And Madiba understood this. This is not new. He warned us about this. He said: “Where globalization means, as it so often does, that the rich and the powerful now have new means to further enrich and empower themselves at the cost of the poorer and the weaker, [then] we have a responsibility to protest in the name of universal freedom.”
Yeah, I agree with that, Obama did not exclude himself from being rich and powerful, but only rightwingers believe that exploiting poorer and weaker is the basis of their wealth
I see a rich man complaining about other people being rich. Pretty sure that's what it's about and has nothing to do with race.
"And Madiba understood this. This is not new. He warned us about this. He said: “Where globalization means, as it so often does, that the rich and the powerful now have new means to further enrich and empower themselves at the cost of the poorer and the weaker..."
"I should add, by the way, right now I’m actually surprised by how much money I got, and let me tell you something: I don’t have half as much as most of these folks or a tenth or a hundredth. There’s only so much you can eat. There’s only so big a house you can have. There’s only so many nice trips you can take. I mean, it’s enough. You don’t have to take a vow of poverty just to say, “Well, let me help out and let a few of the other folks – let me look at that child out there who doesn’t have enough to eat or needs some school fees, let me help him out. I’ll pay a little more in taxes. It’s okay. I can afford it.” I mean, it shows a poverty of ambition to just want to take more and more and more, instead of saying, “Wow, I’ve got so much. Who can I help? How can I give more and more and more?” That’s ambition. That’s impact. That’s influence. What an amazing gift to be able to help people, not just yourself. Where was I? I ad-libbed. You get the point.
It involves promoting an inclusive capitalism both within nations and between nations. And as we pursue, for example, the Sustainable Development Goals, we have to get past the charity mindset. We’ve got to bring more resources to the forgotten pockets of the world through investment and entrepreneurship, because there is talent everywhere in the world if given an opportunity."
Of course that's what you see.
Well damn! There just has to be something wrong about that!
*(that was my feeble attempt at sarcasm)

What I always loved about Obama is he presents himself as a man who happens to be black. Not a black human being who happens to be a man. I doubt he would scream racist at that dialogue. I don't even know how you jumped so many hurdles to get there.
"I don't even know how you jumped so many hurdles to get there."
Can I give you witness Live to learn?
I also didn't see anything racist in the point of the OP, or the context of the quoted speech.
And I like that thought about a man who happens to be black, vs. a black man who became president.
.
GA
"or the context of the quoted speech."
If you mean what I quoted, it was in response to
"a rich man complaining about other people being rich."
He clearly was not complaining about people being rich. But about "the rich" that "want to take more and more and more" "at the cost of the poorer and the weaker..."
Thanks for taking the marbles out of my mouth. The attack was based on the OP saying Obama was a hypocrite, why so?
When one takes the time to actually read what he said...
How many feel good speeches did all the ex-presidents give over all these years, and not one of them touched on the kinds of themes Obama speaks of today?
So we're any of them subject to criticism for being part of the lecture circuit?
I actually love it that Obama is now going around the world sacrificing his legacy for Hope and Change in America by speaking freely and proving every single charge and criticism brought against him during his terms from the right .
-One world order
-Social reengineering
-America hater
-Hypocrite
-Open Borders
-Socialism
-Race baiter
-Anti-nationalist
-Alinskyism
It's the same sh@@, different day, eh Horse. You don't like Obama and will find excuses to criticize him engaging in activities that others would see as innocent.
You got that resentment bug regarding any form of positive progressive. I am going out on a limb here, I am going to say that you hate the man because he is black. Why not? We ALL voted for him because he was black?
Anyway that thinking is going to get you no where. You and people like you will be subject to our greater resolve to relegate the rightwinger, the stench of his ideas and values back to rubbish bin.
Just more Obama bashing. Yes? I intend to carve up your hero, Trump, but at least it will be based on a little fairness and over something substantive
It's funny the longer we all talk the more the hatred and bias reaches the surface.
But you seem to comment and observe this as coming from only one side, so how are you above the fray?
I apologize if it comes off that way. No, I have stooped to the fray. Certain comments did get under your skin. But we are all Americans. We will have to compromise on our future.
Blessed be the peacemakers, thank you, L to L.
You've always been my favorite fist waving liberal. Probably because we can find our moments. It gives me hope.
I am flattered, I know that you would respect no less. Someone has to take a firm stand over the excesses of the other side. Niceties and pussy footing around have their place. We know that on this forum, the Right has it own firm and stubborn advocates. For example, this entire thread was created on the foundation of rightwing bias.
Let's hope that we can find "more" such moments....
I see less right wing bias and more shaking heads at politicians who preach what they don't practice. Obama, as adorable as is his character is human and a politician.
CHeck out the list of complaints that Horse gave in regard to Obama's comments, as he itemized them, are they not all just talking points in right wing bucket lists?
I actually listened and watched his entire spew before posting this thread , immediately I was struck by his absolute hypocrisy , Yet , you don't see it that way at all . Obama's have become nothing if not rich of the backs of their constituency.......all the while doubletalking all through his career. Who is ever surprised at liberal hypocrisy when it is so much a pattern of political history ? Tighten up those blinders Credence , they might loosen .
Ummm. We are talking about horse. That was a rhetorical question?
No one can deny the truth on that list , on Thursday in Africa Obama spoke about the elimination of national borders , Now Why ? Because he believes it better for the world as a whole .
Did Obama ever speak to that in America as our president ? No?
Hypocrite .
Are you people really THAT uninformed ?
I would love to live in a world that was at peace and didn't need borders. Who wouldn't?
Quite frankly, I don't care what the Right says or thinks, they are incorrigible.
Ah, just for fun... I like this one better!
That's blue collar for you...

I took the time to read the speech and while a bit wordy, I considered it spot on. Is Obama a hypocrite for exposing the danger of those with economic prowess, dominating the political sphere as well and displacing democracy and its institutions? For the Right, democracy has always been a messy and irritating inconvenience. But we all know that, do we not?
Truer words were never spoken and would make the rightwinger shudder in fear and resentment at their very utterance, and I expect that when I see that the speech is having the proper effect. The barb against the rise of reactionary politics was also a barb at Trump and his scurvy crew without mentioning him by name. Terrific!!!!
So, if there is any sort of hypocrisy in regards to Obama's address, who wants to show it to me?
Credence , there is no racism better defined in our politically correct era than YOUR posts , People don't like your guy so they must be racists , they blame the residual effects of his lackadaisical presidency on ALL this political obstruction today , they must be racist . They don't like his socialist preachings they must be racists , they don't like his proven record of one world order ,they must be racists , they don't like his Alinsky Isms , they must be racist , they don't like his foreign diplomacies , they must be racists . They didn't like his lack of patriotism , they must be racist ....................Credence , Are you beginning to see your patterns ?
Because I believe that everyone else does .
The left loves to condemn the right when it comes to acquired wealth , The left loves to use this great American phenomena to put down those like Trump politically for the very same reasons that they defend and glorify the Obama's wealth .
Now come the Obamas lectures about the negatives of wealth ?
No , no hypocrisy here !
Horse, did you read the speech, even glanced at it? Obama was talking about abuse of wealth and power toward those not having it, not just its mere possession. That, for me, is the most dangerous aspect of society that threatens democracy.
But being a righty, I have to print it in Braille and shove it up your bum before you understand the message since you obviously cant see it with your own two eyes.....
The difference is that Trump has proven himself to be of a coarse sort, and no amount of money can polish that image.
Hello Islandbites, My comment about the "hurdles" was directed at the perception that racism was inferred in the OP.
I also agree with your response relative to the "rich complaining" comment.

Obama is a fool. The man has absolutely no leadership ability, he is in way over his head, ISIS is cleaning his clock, Putin is treating him like a bitch, the Iranians are ripping him off, he didn't even have the common sense to come down hard on the rioters in Ferguson and Baltimore, he allowed...
