    it is a meeting between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. both have different characters, such as density, temperature and salinity. because of differences in the characters each sea has a different mass density so that they can not mix because of the surface tension.

    Could also be a dramatic drop-off of the land being visible and closer to the surface of the water and much deeper on the other darker side? No sure where this was taken so, hard to say. Beautiful photo nonetheless!

    The same thing happens with the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers at the bottom of Illinois.  Though it appears that they are not mixing, but I am sure that they are mixing below the surface.  Things are not always what the seem.

    I kayaked around the entire  Vancouver island. East side of the island was sub- tropical sea life and the west side dropped 20 degree colder. The whole northern Pacific coast has many different water tides and currents. The water colour changed like your photo.  Most amazing wife life I have ever seen from over a 100 countries traveled.

    Guys! if we throw a plastic unloaded ball in the river then the ball will flow rather then getting drowned . Mainly what makes this incident happen is because of individual density of the ball and the river. it doesn't matter  in what state the thing is...what matters is the density which the water always requires to drown anything into it or mix up.
    And the same goes with this two seas.
