So, how have we lost, Mr. Ed?

      Did you "catch the wave"?

Get a little wet, did you?

Your man and his agenda will be now crippled beyond repair in the face of a Democratic Party controlled house.

Reminds me of the Tea Party dominated House of obstructionists during the Obama Administration, circa, 2010? So, now the tables have turned.

Your man will kick and scream like a toddler in a high chair, but he had better put those vaunted negotiation skills to work with the Democrats or his administration will amount to nothing from here on.

A little too late to be a "Monday morning quarterback", don't you think?

Wouldn't it be nice if we could all see the possibility of the positive on this. If we weren't all spoiling for a fight and saw this an opportunity for real bipartisan progress.

Sean Hannity and Jeanne Piro of Fox News joined Trump on stage the other day to campaign for Republicans.

Who from the other news channels and newspapers joined Democrats on stage to campaign for them?

The entire networks of NBC CBS ABC and PBS and all their combined shell networks 24/7/365 every day and every night. Not to mention all the late night shows. Dont even get me started on Inside Sedition with Debbie Northville. Hollywood, movies and their wannabe stars. Actors and comedians cant even get a job unless they are a foaming at the mouth liberal. No need to even watch tv. Its all reruns of whining about trump with their little wistful Chuck Todd/Oliver Twist faces still looking for a path to victory for the Hildabeast. Its pathetic. The only good part was watching cokie and todd cry on national tv..

I didnt even mention Twitter Goofle and Fakebook. Twitter has become a liberal third reich. Conservative and shadowban are synonyms. For midterms, imo Twitter had it so boarded up and clamped down, If I was in charge I would have @jack and the pimpled face kid at FB put in gitmo.

I'd like to see newspapers and network news simply indicate their bias, that's all.  In the 1800's the newspapers were primarily mouthpieces for the political parties, and locat papers were often known as the _____________ Democrat or the ____________Republican.

News media just needs to stop pretending to be objective, 'cause it ain't.

      1. profile image0
promisemposted 5 years agoin reply to this

Really? Why do you say so? Newspapers have a "news" section that is required to follow standards of balance and objectivity while the editorial pages have a perspective.

For example, the Chicago Tribune has endorsed a Republican for president for more than a century except for the hometown Barrack Obama. But the "news" section is highly balanced and objective even though the editorial pages are conservative.

I admit, I've  never seen the Chicago Tribune.

Even so, I've seen more than enough news articles with headlines that clearly lay out, in advance, a perspective that leans one way or the other.  Now I do recall that back in the 80's through the mid to late 90's that most of the editorializing was done on the editorial page; I don't see that now.

        1. profile image0
promisemposted 5 years agoin reply to this

I understand your point about headlines. It is nearly impossible to write a headline in such a small space without creating potential problems with how they are interpreted, especially in political coverage.

Regarding articles, I see both good articles and bad articles. Good articles about politics have comments from people on both sides of an issue. Bad ones have comments from only one side.

If there is any editorializing, it should be in the form of a quote from the source and not from the reporter.

While it is true that they are commentators and not news people, their actions have damaged the credibility of the real news people at Fox.

Here is an example of the bias of the media.

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-46133268

I watched the news conference. Acosta was rude. He was called on for a question, it was answered. Instead of accepting it was another person's turn to ask a question he refused to relinquish the mike.

BBC certainly put a left spin on this with no regard for fair and unbiased reporting.

    1. profile image0
promisemposted 5 years agoin reply to this

Where in the BBC article is an example of left spin? I see only quotes from external sources and no personal opinions of the writer.

      1. Live to Learn profile image61
Live to Learnposted 5 years agoin reply to this

It did not, in any way, reflect the actual event. If you can't see when there is a left or right wing spin from a news source, that's a problem. I see both, frequently.

      2. wilderness profile image96
wildernessposted 5 years agoin reply to this

"Jim Acosta was asking a question at a news conference on Wednesday when a White House worker tried to grab the microphone from his hands."

In actuality, he was making a speech and refused to give up the mike after being told to.  "Mr Acosta challenged Mr Trump's use of the word "invasion" to describe a migrant caravan heading to the US from Central America. He also challenged him over an anti-immigration advert that was widely seen as racist."  This is not "asking a question".

        Spin.

Damn Wilderness, you beat me to it. And I was going to post the same quote and response.

At least let me add a specific to your point that he wasn't asking a question, but making a speech. His first words when he stood up, (Acosta), were; "Thank you Mr. President, I want to challenge you..." He picked the fight, not Pres. Trump.

That is not asking a question, as the BBC article said in it's lead statement. From my view, that set the tone for the reader of the article. It was spin.

I never said I approved of Acosta's tactics.  I said they are no different than that displayed by various reporters with many presidents over many years.  The only difference is Trump's delicate ego cannot abide being challenged without him resorting to childish bullying behavior that is beneath the dignity of the office and a total embarrassment.

    2. PhoenixV profile image63

Obama, of course, would have never had to. The "free press" {sic. would have claimed a caravan or w/e news was in reality a YouTube video and there would have been a full-court press to continue that story for months until after re-election.

    Speaking of the media... lol

Trump played central role in hush payoffs to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal

As a presidential candidate in August 2015, Donald Trump huddled with a longtime friend, media executive David Pecker, in his cluttered 26th floor Trump Tower office and made a request.

What can you do to help my campaign? he asked, according to people familiar with the meeting.

Mr. Pecker, chief executive of American Media Inc., offered to use his National Enquirer tabloid to buy the silence of women if they tried to publicize alleged sexual encounters with Mr. Trump.

Less than a year later, Mr. Trump asked Mr. Pecker to quash the story of a former Playboy model who said they’d had an affair. Mr. Pecker’s company soon paid $150,000 to the model, Karen McDougal, to keep her from speaking publicly about it. Mr. Trump later thanked Mr. Pecker for the assistance.

The Trump Tower meeting and its aftermath are among several previously unreported instances in which Mr. Trump intervened directly to suppress stories about his alleged sexual encounters with women, according to interviews with three dozen people who have direct knowledge of the events or who have been briefed on them, as well as court papers, corporate records and other documents.

Taken together, the accounts refute a two-year pattern of denials by Mr. Trump, his legal team and his advisers that he was involved in payoffs to Ms. McDougal and a former adult-film star. They also raise the possibility that the president of the United States violated federal campaign-finance laws.

The Wall Street Journal found that Mr. Trump was involved in or briefed on nearly every step of the agreements. He directed deals in phone calls and meetings with his self-described fixer, Michael Cohen, and others. The U.S. attorney’s office in Manhattan has gathered evidence of Mr. Trump’s participation in the transactions.
