      Morrison was a writer not a musician.  He couldn't sing when they first started.  He got better but could never hit the kind of high notes and range that Freddie could.  He played up his sex appeal and rebellious attitude both on stage and in his life and that and the fact that he died so young made him a legend.
      
      Freddie Mercury had raw talent.  A talent that just couldn't be matched.

   Forever and ever without contest. Don't get me wrong, I liked Mercury but his voice never had the passion and power of Jim Morrison.

   Good choice Hyph! The only thing is Jim would often be "in his cups' while Freddie almost always gave a great show. Its a really tough one for me but suppose for the mystique will go with Morrison too.
   
   Oh, on an interesting note: once knew a fellow who was in a band in Florida that played on the same bill as the Doors before they made it and he said the Doors would swipe their equipment every chance they got...lol!

   Okay as much as I love Jim Morrison I gotta go with Freddy.  Morrison wasn't passionate on stage, he was wasted!!  Freddy had passion! He loved being on stage and it showed!  Freddy hands down!

   That's completely a question of taste. Morrison embodied the troubled and rebellious sort of side of a rock singer, while Freddie was flamboyance and Rock singer spectacle embodied...so if you put them together you would have....David Bowie

   I have to go with Freddie on this one.  He could sing, he could write, and man, oh, man could the man give a SHOW!  Not to mention, he remains one of the most charismatic AND enigmatic people in the world to date.  People love Queen in great part because of WHO Freddie was, not just because the music was fantastic.  The Doors played great music, don't get me wrong, but Queen has stood the test of time like almost no one else...and a HUGE part of that is because of Freddie Mercury.

   Jim was a bit of a 'one trick pony' - if he was an actor he would have been Nick Cage - lacking real depth and  range.  Whereas Mercury would have been a bit more of a Dick Van Dyke - not serious, but a vaudeville style level of old school talent.

    Freddie Mercury was an extremely talented musician, singer, song writer, and remarkable front man who owned the crowd at any show.  There really is no comparison between Jim Morrison and Freddie Mercury, except they both fronted popular bands.  But think about it; would you want to go see a drugged out, melancholy, introverted flaneur mumble through the band's hit tunes and mind numbing, seemingly neverending "jams" or a stunningly talented showman leading his prodigiously gifted bandmates through hit after hit on stage?  Irregardless, they both entertained us and made everlasting imprints on our music.

    Hands down, Freddie!!  I agree with Monisajda, good showman, GREATTTTTTTTTTT voice, and definitely charisma.  Too many drugs and bad things going in when Doors were popular.  I feel that ruined a lot of those bands in that era.
