He is Pete Buttigieg, Mayor Pete; a millennial, mayor of South Bend, Indiana, Afghanistan war veteran and lieutenant in the United States Navy Reserve, a graduate of Harvard University, a Rhodes Scholar, and a married gay man.

He is running for the Democratic Party's nomination in the 2020 presidential election.

If Buttigieg were to win the White House next year, he would be the youngest president as well as the first openly gay one.

He is making some noise lately. Have you heard about him? Thoughts?

He gave a good interview. It will be interesting to watch him. I am already unimpressed by Beto.

Yeah. There's something about Beto... I don't know.

Honestly, I haven't paying too much attention to him because there's something about him that I don't like. I dont know what or why. Ha. Just a feeling.

He comes off relatively non-partisan and composed.  I'm with you guys on Beto, just not impressed at all.

Watched some other interviews of him after the one you linked to. Impressive.

His comments about the green new deal were particularly good. Definitely one to watch.

Pete certainly gave a great interview and has good credentials. He appears to use good common sense. He is someone that would make a good candidate for the Dem's. He stands out from the rest...

There is an interesting group looking to gain the Dem nomination...But, I honest think that the Dem party is going to end up going with Biden.

I agree they stay with however can bring in the most cash. I would think they might rethink that history at this juncture.

Right-wing activists accused of orchestrating false sexual assault allegations against Pete Buttigieg

A pair of notorious right-wing activists are facing accusations of orchestrating a plan for a man to falsely claim he was sexually assaulted by Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg.

The two activists – lobbyist Jack Burkman and blogger Jacob Wohl – have been involved in pushing conspiracy theories and inflammatory accusations against others in the past.

In October, Burkman and Wohl were earlier accused of being behind a plot to pay women to make false accusations of sexual harassment against Special Counsel Robert Mueller. The special counsel’s office said they referred the report about Burkman to the FBI.

Mr. Anderson, it is all politics as usual.  Politics at this stage of humanity is analogous to high school shenanigans.  It isn't politics for some without mudslinging from the opposite side. Politics is show business.

Okay, if the ruling party divides the opposition, serves them right.

Grace I think your comparison to "high school shenanigans" is a positive indicator.

Looking back through our political history, there has always been the vitriol we have today - only much worse. News sources weren't just biased, they were party organs. Political disagreements were more often physically violent than just verbally assaultive.

So, to look at it as comparable to "high school shenanigans"seems to indicate an improvement.

But, I do understand your thought and agree. The difference between today and yesteryear is our capability of instant communications.

Today, we know within minutes if something happened in Podunk, Arkansas, whereas back then, the news relay could take weeks - and by then it was old news that had lost its impact.

One last thought concerning your "divided" point. I think it safe to say that it is only the political junkies and social media addicts, (like us here in these forums), that are so sure of this divide. I think Middle America is informed by its TV news, so if there is the division we all speak of, I think it is an uninformed division.

ps. Come on Grace, try it just once; GA or Gus, it will be easier each time you do it, and I will feel much less like a portrait on the wall. ;-)

Gus, American politics seem to have gotten intensely personal.  Politics nowadays is going for the jugular.  It is meant to be demoralizing, even immobilizing.  It is New York politics to the nth degree.  New York politics is known to be...….QUITE DIRTY.   As Margo Channing said in All About Eve- it is going to be quite a bumpy ride.  Politics today is for the very strong or for the ruthless & cunning.  Black mambas, king cobras, & taipans fare much better.  Let the VENOM fly & it will-sssssssssssss.

South Bend, Ind. Mayor Pete Buttigieg is joining "Fox News Sunday" host Chris Wallace as part of a town hall event in Claremont, N.H.

And of course, this is what a great leader and mature person has to say...

Hard to believe that @FoxNews is wasting airtime on Mayor Pete, as Chris Wallace likes to call him. Fox is moving more and more to the losing (wrong) side in covering the Dems. They got dumped from the Democrats boring debates, and they just want in. They forgot the people who got them there. Chris Wallace said, “I actually think, whether you like his opinions or not, that Mayor Pete has a lot of substance, fascinating biography.” Gee, he never speaks well of me - I like Mike Wallace better...and Alfred E. Newman will never be President!
