   "A 20-year-old from Ohio who police say has self-identified as a white nationalist was arrested Saturday after reportedly making threats against a Jewish community center in Youngstown
   
   As soon as they began investigating, law enforcement officials found Reardon’s social media feeds were filled with racist content. “There were several videos that he posted on Instagram where he used a lot of derogatory remarks towards the Jewish community, and the African-American community, things of that nature,” New Middletown Police Chief Vincent D’Egidio said.
   
   The Youngstown Police Department and the FBI executed a search warrant at the home of Reardon’s mother on Saturday and confiscated two AR-15s, a rifle with a bayonet, a .40-caliber antitank gun, knives, a gas mask, a bulletproof vest, and lots of ammo. Police also found anti-Semitic and white nationalist propaganda.".

      I think there is some confusion here Don. Not with you, but with the ".40-caliber antitank gun" description.
      
      First, a Google search finds .40-caliber antitank gun to be 40mm anti-tank guns. But that is wrong. .40 caliber equates to a 10mm rifle barrel.
      
      So, instead of this:
      
      as an image of a 20mm, (twice .40 caliber), anti-tank weapon . . .
      
      We get one of these, (actual weapons confiscated from this man);
      
      
      I don't know which of those weapons is the anti-tank gun, but none match the image conjured up by ".40 caliber anti-tank gun. But I have to consider that whoever described one of them as an anti-tank gun might be using a bit of Trumpian hyperbole.
      
      But even so, it looks like this was a good catch by law enforcement.

         Thanks for the clarification. I'm so glad it didn't mean an anti-tank gun of the two-wheeled variety like I've seen in WWII movies. I'm not really a gun person, but I do find them fascinating. I wonder if that's a male thing. I know there are women who shoot, but the fascination for guns seems to be an especially male fascination.

   The man accused of threatening to shoot up a Jewish community center in Youngstown, Ohio, once appeared in a documentary on the Unite the Right rally, where he acknowledged being a white nationalist, police say.
   
   New Middletown Police Chief Vincent D'Egidio confirmed it is James Reardon, then 18, who appears in the 2017 National Geographic documentary about the Unite the Right Rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.
   
   "I want a homeland for white people, and I think every race should have a homeland," Reardon said.
   
   "We need someplace that can be a white homeland or we will be bred out," he said.

      These people are genuinely scary. And those who minimize their recent resurgence are almost as scary, because these white nationalists must be shamed and not excused, minimized, and emboldened.

            Can't argue with that. However, white nationalists and neo-Nazis are now openly demonstrating in our streets, seemingly no longer ashamed to show their faces. They used to wear hoods. What changed?

               Even white nationalists have a right to express themselves, but once we normalize that sort of opinion and allow it into the mainstream, we're in trouble. That's seems to be what's happening now. The KKK has always been around and always demonstrated, but now web sites featuring white nationalism have become mainstream.

                     Agreed. In another forum I made a comment about race and was taken to task for it.
                     
                     For those on the right, the left makes race an issue where it shouldn't be an issue.
                     
                     For those on the left, the right minimizes race issues at every turn.
                     
                     I think there's truth to both perspectives, but I think issues of race still persist in our country and dramatically impact the daily lives of non-whites.

               Trump is the variable, the random element, that has been added to this equation. He has given tacit permission for these cockroaches to come scurrying from their respective corners. We haven't seen anything at this magnitude 10 years ago.
               
               Our leader, instead of encouraging and bringing out the best is inspiring the very worse among us to take liberties that they did not take before.
               
               It is part of an all American psyche that has always been there like a burning cauldron, with the relative calm on top being the "veneer of progress" We all have been working to keep the lid on the pot, and I actually believed that most of demons associated with "the pot" have been excised, until now.
               
               The Right has spent more time making excuses and being in denial than acknowledging what is clearly before anyone that have two working eyes. Look at how many and how virulent and frequent?
               
               These aren't drooling creeps, but the kinds of ordinary people you would not look at twice in Charlottesville VA, for example. Doctors, lawyers responsible business people, they are not representative of the loathsome types that were at the forefront of these bigoted and fascist oriented groups in the past. That is what is making this current resurgence so much more dangerous.

            Listened to an interview with a NY republican senator this morning. He refused to say what the 100 round magazines were good for and why anyone needed such. Naturally, he gets big bucks from the NRA. Hope he's voted out next election.

                  No Scott, no one needs a 100 round clip unless they're going to war. It's simply dumb to allow such to be sold to the ordinary citizen, but as we know, there are a lot of ignorant people wanting to own such firepower.

                     Although I'm not in favor of 100 round clips, I'm not sure I remember anything about "shall not be infringed" means that a second person must find I have a "need" for a right before I can exercise that right.
                     
                     We don't "need" 6,000 behemoth SUV's screaming down our roads at 80 MPH either, but we sure have them.  And I suspect they kill far more people than 100 round clips do.

                        So you're equating SUV's with intentional murders? When the 2nd amendment was written nukes weren't mentioned either, Dan. Does this mean we should be able to own nukes for our personal protection, or that militias can own them? Where exactly do you think the line should be drawn?
