Why don't you start - instead of repeating what others have said, what are your thoughts?

surfing or swimming in the ocean or just being near it.

Sometimese sitting out in the water I can feel what I am.  At peace out there, it's traquility,  my eyes seem to lie, and it looks like the world has a pink haze.  I feel like I am floating.  I feel like I am part of the most massive body we can touch.  It can sweep you out for no apperant reason, it can kill me with a mighty wave, and it is so humbling, yet she gives you life and freedom and I don't think about my worldly problems.  Just at peace with the origins of life.

That is zen to me.  smile

No, I was just letting you know that I did not start this thread - which it looks like after the OP was deleted.

As for the third worst poet in the universe........

He can spam this one with his poems all he likes.

Being a poet I will answer witha poem.

    TRANCE

Most around me live in a trance,
Having no idea of your cosmic dance.

When does everyone get to know you?
Why reveal yourself only to a few?

It causes me so much pain,
When I talk of you all in vain.

In the middle of the ocean, in nowhere,
You showed me your presence everywhere.

    Absolute delight and utter confusion,
From the moment of our fusion.

Countless in front are your entity,
    All having an individual identity.

You are made of such fine light, love tissue,
No beginning, no end, an ageless issue.

At times I feel like a master,
Then on the other hand an utter disaster.

    Regards
    Mohit

Zen is more like state of being aware. Now this has a twist to it .Some say be more aware of your surroundings but when you are concentrating on something wholly then you are in state of zen.The more your conecentration the more you become less aware of everything else around you.Writing my poetry book was zen as one must merge with the universe and allow the universe to comminicate with you, through you. Some of my friends would at times would get angry with me as I would often get lost during a coversation and say sorry I havent heard a word of what you said I was lost in my book.smile
