Where are all the snowmen and other snow sculptures?

   Whilst walking in my local park today I noticed that although there was at least 2-3inches of snow there was not 1 single snowman to be seen, let alone any other snow sculptures such as igloos.  Have all our children lost the ability to be creative, perhaps thanks to computer games?

      No, I don't think so.  It's 3 degrees here in Missouri.  I won't let my son out to play.  A snowman is not worth the risk of frostbite.

      We had a foot of snow Christmas Eve but it wasn't the kind of snow that would stick together so no one could make anything out of it. My kids got out and tried. Later, someone told us if you added water it would have worked. We don't get enough snow down here to know all the tricks.

         Whoa, I don't know who told you that, but that would most likely create a skating rink in your yard. Sometimes you get to make snowmen and sometimes you don't.

            This is true.  The we usually get is not very good for making anything other than snowballs.  This year is does seem to be better.  We have just had another inch fall over night so I will be making a snowman with my little boy this morning, and will teach him all I know about snow. yippee

   They all on my front lawn. And it is snowing here again today so they aren't going anywhere soon.
   
   Skipper the beagle next door is wailing away because my neighbors have him out in the yard for some exercise and he hates snow and cold. Might be time to put on my winter clothes and go out and play with him for a few minutes.

      I wish I could say the same.  We have what you might call sleet or very fine snow at the moment.  Unfortunately I have been unable to make a snowman at home because I have had to come to work every day it has snowed. 
      Perhaps this is the answer to my question though.  Everyone is making them at home now instead of enjoying the snow as a community like we used to as children!  It just seems such a shame as I remember the fun I had with friends in the snow.

   You seem sad today. My neighborhood is filled with kids and they all have yards. So when they have a snow day they all make them in their yards - as well as mine - with each other. It's very much a community thing. Then someone makes hot chocolate and we all have a treat.
   
   On snowy days and bad weather, we probably shouldn't be walking and driving in poor visibility unless we have to.

      good advice by Nelle, but here at Dallas, no snow, but it is pretty cold, I have never been to snow like more than 4 inches so if I am there at Nelles place, I will go and make a snowman myself, will have to dress for it though, might froze hehe...
      
      and also maybe because children are at school thats why there are no snowman anymore, could be fun

         You are definately right about driving in poor visibility but here in Fenland we can see just fine.  Schools are closing because the heating has failed and paths are supposedly to dangerous for staff and children to walk on.
         
         So yes I am a little sad. I want more snow so that I can make a snowman tomorrow on my day off.

               I love making snowmen, but it only happens maybe once a year here in Cambridgeshire.  Usually when it snows it has gone within 2days. At the moment with have had snow on the ground since just before Christmas, I can't remember the last time that happened! Some people are saying it hasn't been like this since in the 1970's!
               You should kick the children out with a football (soccer ball) that usually works over here.

   Computers and tv's are great but they have stopped children thinking for themselves.  They don't know how to use there imagination anymore.  This is sad when I look back at my time as a child. Apart from taking these luxuries away I don't really know what the answer is! Would love to know seeing as I have a 2year old.

   Like nasus I live in the UK.  I'm right on the coast in Hampshire (least likely place to get snow).  However we have been snowed up for three days now with around a foot of snow.  It is so cold typically (-10 to -15 Centigrade at night) that most people seem to be staying in.  I trudged around 2 miles to the nearest big supermarket to stock up with food today and saw some great snowmen on the way!  We are expecting more snow this weekend so I'm not sure I'm going to get to work next week.  I'm trying to work at home but get distracted by things like HubPages!

   Oh you guys are lucky to have snow there in England right?
   
   it snowed here in dallas like one week ago and thats Christmas day, I was so glad I just looked at the window, it made me gasp looking at snow and then I played outside and went to my friends house, I realized snow is slippery too.....but thats only up to three in...
   
   kids should go out yes and I wonder what this new video games offer to children, they just sit down and dont appreciate nature anymore, I grew up in tropical cuntry and since we dont have enough money to but toys which are commercials we climb trees, go with the wind, swim in the river, I miss doing that even though am not kid anymore...
