7 Obscure (But Fun) Free Android Games

Updated on August 11, 2016

Mobile gaming is incredibly popular these days, but it's prone to fads. Why not check out a few of these slightly lesser known games and see what the little guy's been up to.

These are some of my favourite obscure android games.

Which Game is your Favourite?

Machinations - Graham Games

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.machinations

Machinations is a fun little strategy game from Graham Games. The objective of the game is to capture all of the nodes and prevent your opponent from doing the same. You can upgrade certain nodes, so that it takes more ships to capture them, or so that they produce more ships.

The game is simple to pick up and play, and contains hours of fun. Easily one of my favourite Android games out there.

Circles - Electronic Projects

Circles is a very simple tapping game from Electronic Projects. White and red circles will appear on the screen. Tap the white circles, avoid the red circles. You lose if you miss a white circle or hit a red one. The game is extremely simple but incredibly addictive.

Flop Fu - G-Labs

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.gree.flopfu

Flop Fu is a fighting game by G-Labs. It's like QWOP, if QWOP was about karate rather than running. The game absolutely hilarious. It even has an online multiplayer mode. Definitely worth checking out. I highly recommend it.

Swingby - Hannes Paulsson

Swingby is easily one of the most addictive games I've ever played. You control a little ball that you're attempting to jump between the gravity wells of planets. Your orb will orbit the planet until you tap, launching it in a straight line.

It's harder than it sounds. It's extremely easy to learn, and a great game to pick up and play when you're bored.

Pivot - Nickervision Studios

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.NVS.pivot

Nickervision Studios seem to have a formula for making addictive, but simple, games. That's why the last three games on the list were made by them. Pivot is the first. You simply tap to reverse the direction that your orb is spinning in. Collect the white circles and avoid the blocks that fly across the screen.

Once again, another addictive work by Nickervision Studios. Tap the screen to make your orb change its direction by 90 degrees. Collect the white ball and bring it back to your goal. Your orb will slowly get bigger as time goes on, resetting every time you collect a ball.

This game is highly challenging and addictive. I recommend it if you're looking for something to play on the bus.

I don't particularly understand the name of this game. However, I do know that it's extremely fun. You play as a green circle that travels up and down a path at a set speed. You can slow down by holding on the screen. You've got to collect as many white circles as possible whilst avoiding the red blocks.

Definitely check it out. It's great fun if you like simplistic games.

Summary

These are just a few lesser-known games out there on the Google Play store. My personal favourite is Machinations. I highly recommend you check them all out. I hope it helped you to find something to play that isn't whatever craze is happening at the time of you reading this.
