10 Best Bath Toys for 1-Year Old Boys
When you’ve got a 1-year old, bath time takes on a whole new life.
Sure, they most likely need the spaghetti sauce cleaned off their face, but really bath time is a full-fledged activity - and a time for them to relax and wind down.
And of course, when you’ve got a 1-year old, what’s the best way to make them enjoy an essential activity?
Make it fun. :)
Luckily, bath toys for these little guys aren’t going to break the bank, so it’s worth spending a few dollars for the life saver it will be for you!
And better yet, a lot of the toys that our little 1-year olds love are actually educational too, which means we all get to be happy!
So, in my personal experience, these are the best bath toys for a 1-year old boy:
Bath Buddy Wayne
We got Bath Buddy Wayne as a gift and I must tell you, I was SHOCKED by how much my son loved him! The second we put him in the bath, he reached for Wayne and would hold him the entire time he bathed. Even when he wasn't playing with Wayne exclusively, he was holding him while he played with his other favorites.
This cute basketball set suctions to the wall, so it's easy-peasy to set up. For boys, it's pretty much inevitable that balls will be one of their absolute favorite toys, so this is a must-have. My son has spent countless hours learning to throw using this set. The net is also a lot of fun because he will fill it with all of his other toys...then empty it...then fill it again...then empty it...and it goes on and on.
This is another great toy that gives you the feeling that your child is doing more than just having fun - they're learning and being creative. These crayons wash off really easily (even in between tiles), but also leave bright and vibrant colors so your baby will not need to press hard to make them work. A great way to learn colors and eventually writing, but more importantly a great and fun distraction in the bath!
This toy really surprised me. I assumed that it wouldn't be enough "fun" for bath time, but boy was I wrong. This is one of the first things that my son wants to do and it's really helping him learn words and animals! The one we have is also easy to clean, so he can actually use his crayons in it. I will definitely be adding this to my go-to list of baby shower gifts - it's perfect!
Classic, Simple Boats
Every little boy needs a set of simple, plain floating boats and these are the set that my son has...and he LOVES them. Ironically, we bought them one time when we were on vacation not realizing how great they would be, but of course they immediately became one of his favorites. It's unbelievable sometimes to see how long he can be entertained by simply pushing them around and stacking them up. And of course the bold colors are great and perfect for little learning minds.
As is often the case with 1-year old boys, it's the simplest things that they latch onto and love. These cups definitely fit into that category. My son fills them with water, then pours them out, fills them again, then pours again. He stacks them on top of each other, floats them around, and fills his basketball net with them. These are also a great toy out of the bath, so they're perfect for traveling when space is tight and you can't find enough room for regular toys AND bath toys.
Animal Tub Stickers
These little foam critters (that float and stick to the sides of the tub) will end up being fun for everyone...because once your little guy starts to talk, these will be some of his first words. That's when you'll realize just how glad you are that he plays with them! No matter what books we were reading or where we were, these were the first animals that he recognized and pointed out.
This is another classic that is so simple you wonder how they could love it so much, but my son couldn't get enough of them! He would hold them, chew on them, squeeze them...and of course fill his basketball net with them :) These are another great toy that is perfect for travel because it can be used as a non-bath toy in a pinch.
Technically this probably wouldn't be classified as a toy, BUT my son loves them so much that I can't possibly not include them in this list. I am also a huge fan of bath bombs (which is why we tried them in the first place), so if you give this a go for your son, be sure to try it for yourself as well. There are tons of brands and styles of bath bombs, but these are definitely the best I've come across. Their bombs last for a really long time, the fizzing is incredible, and the colors are bright and vibrant. My son gets so excited when he sees me pull one out and he plays with it the entire time it is fizzing around. Another HUGE benefit to these is that they are made with very high quality products so they are great for a baby's sensitive skin. I used them all through the winter to keep him well moisturized and he never had any dry skin issues.
Empty Shampoo Bottles
Ok, I had to add this one...because the reality is that sometimes this is what they want most! They watch you use it and they know it's something for a "big kid" so the draw is just too much. When they're empty, there's really nothing to worry about. Plus, then they float, so it's a perfect use for them before they make their way to the trash. This, again, is a perfect toy for when you're traveling because you typically don't bring bath toys along for the ride.
Hopefully this list was helpful! Let me know if there are any great toys that you've come across that I haven't listed. I'm always on the lookout for great products that make my son (and me) happy.
