Strange Places Pokestops Have Been Found With Pokemon Go
Pokemon Go and The PokeStops
So Pokemon Go has been released in several countries around the world and everyone is getting out and exercising and conversing with each other. The Pokestops are built in to give people more Pokeballs and thus catch more Pokemon. The Pokestops are located in populated areas, which gets players out of their house and into their community. Another brilliant idea by the creators Niantic was to make most common places like churches, popular restaurants and art or monuments as the central places to find Pokestops. However, some of the places, have given some Redditors reason to pause as they are found in the most peculiar of places and it appears that the game is describing the places on a whim.
You can follow the subreddit Shitty Pokestops to see all the unusual places people around the world have found their Pokestops. These are just a few of my favorites.
So a lot of the pokestops are artwork or street murals and things like that. It is meant to get people out and exploring their cities and towns in ways they may not have before. This means, these places are getting a lot of attention and sometimes, it's a little creepy.
Churches and Memorials
Upon looking into the strangest places to find Pokestops, I found that a lot of memorials for "unborn" or "aborted" babies were listed. As well as a majority of churches around the world. Social media is spinning the tale of Pokemon Go sending people to church and churches are finding an influx of attendance. Though if it's just for the Pokeballs or the worship, is anyone's guess. However, it appears that Pokemon Go holds the lives of the aborted very dear to their heart the amount of memorials and plaques dedicated to this specifically being featured as a Pokestop in many places.
Spirituality and Culture Icons
Along the same lines as churches, it appears that the game has incorporated some interesting statues or art based around the religious icons and/or culture icons of the places they are located. From Jesus with a fun caption to a clearly stoned Spongebob graffiti art, it's not hard to discern that eye catching and interesting and possibly a bit controversial in some places, is what the developers were going for.
The Innuendo is Strong In this One
There's no doubt that Pokemon Go is a game for everyone. Of all ages. And should be enjoyed by all. Though, there seems to be an affinity for the adult shops and strip clubs, which would give more adult players a slight advantage to their younger counterparts. There is also a prevalence on the pictures shared by the Redditors that there is definitely a lot of play on words insinuating sexual nature of things like Balls and Cocks. All in good fun I'm sure, and have many players just shaking their heads in amusement while their kids happily collect their Pokeballs and Pokemon and aren't really in on the joke.
Where Have You Found PokeStops?
Have you found any interesting or bizarre places for Pokestops. For a free to play game that is geared towards all ages, some might find it hard to swallow that these are less than kid-friendly places in most cases. But what do you think? Is it art? Is it taboo? Is there a deliberate need to make everything dirty and offensive, on the part of the developer? We may never know, but I'm betting its a fun time finding these and other Pokestops in the weirdest of places.
Feel free to share your craziest Pokestop sighting and tell me where you are catching them all!
