Why Is 4 Pics 1 Word So Addictive?

How can video games that give you 4 pictures be so addictive? 4 completely different pictures all point towards one word, while you spend your time studying every single pixel of each picture.

It sounds simple and the developers would have you believe that it is easy to play, but in actuality, they get their "hooks" into you with a few simple images that show you how simple it really is to play the game. What they don't tell you about is how mind-boggling the pictures get, as you progress through the levels.

A Great Waste Of Time

As you continue to advance through each level, the words begin to get abstract and more challenging to solve. There are several reasons why this game has become so popular, but the most glaring reason is the sexy user interface. 4 Pics 1 Word is a well designed masterpiece with smooth graphics and easy-to-understand directions. The only confusion you can expect to have is trying to figure out what the answers are to the game.

Millions of downloads in the Google Play Android Market serve as testimony to the fact that 4 Pics 1 Word isn't going anywhere but up, up, up. I don't profess to be the smartest guy around. To be honest, I'm not even average at a lot of these new mobile apps. The reason I enjoy 4 Pics 1 Word is because it's easy to play and pushes the envelope on my critical thinking skills.

A Level In 4 Pics 1 Word

My Critical Thinking Skills Need Sharpening

As I play the game, I find myself proverbially ramming my head into the wall trying to solve some of these puzzles. It's quite addicting, as well as frustrating because the answer seems to be right there for me to grab, but I just continue to draw a blank. If you are looking for the colossal time suck, this game is the perfect fit. If you are trying to get things done, you definitely want to avoid playing 4 Pics 1 Word.

The beauty of this game is that it runs similarly on Android or iOS. There's not much difference in the graphics and it's so very easy to use. The settings, options and controls mimic each other, so the only thing to adjust is how each device functions, in general.

Can You Guess This Level?

There Are Many Versions Of 4 Pics 1 Word

Where Do You Go When You Get Stuck?

While it is true that you accumulate coins with every correct guess, eventually you will see yourself in a bind with no coins and out of options. I say that like it is a certainty, what I mean is *I* always end up in a bind with no way out. The problem I face is that I really enjoy this game, but am not very good at advancing through the levels and I end up getting stuck, as a result.

Based on basic google searches and the chatter on Facebook, it seems I am not alone. Several help sites have launched, as a way to help people, like me, who enjoy the game, but find themselves at the roadblock. 4 Pics 1 Word Answers and 4 Pics 1 Word Cheats seem to be the two sites I've found online that are the easiest to use. Finding the levels that stump you only takes a few seconds and the Facebook groups they have are active with other fans of the game.

My Favorite Picture Puzzle Apps

The wide age demographic and low cost of the mobile app makes 4 Pics 1 Word more than worth the money. Since I'm not decent at games like Draw Something, I've gravitated towards the picture puzzle games and this is top of my list, at the moment.

I have a handful of picture puzzle mobile apps, currently on my iOS 4 smartphone. My favorites are What's The Word?, 4 Pics 1 Word, Factory96 and Logos Quiz. I'm sure there will be new versions that will debut over the next few months and am looking forward to seeing where this new game genre goes.
