A Possible Series of Riddles #2

Rules
Please respect them:
1. One guess per person at a time, when I respond to you that is your cue to answer again or bask in your winning of the riddle.
2. Reading through the comments is cheating! Don't ruin it for yourself and others!
What Am I?
A frozen tundra is where I'll breed,
Though warm high gravity can be my womb.
What may swell I could soothe,
Or in a delicious sea be my tomb.
Some see me as a lurking devil,
Others an obstacle to overcome.
Some admire my beauty,
Cut me to bits for home away from home.
Others fear me deeply,
Especially when I leave en masse.
No matter how you view me,
I'm an integral piece of your life.
An Easy One!
I think someone will be able to get this one pretty darn quick, but every good set of riddles has a myriad of difficulties. Before you look at the comments, see if you can guess what it is! Don't ruin the fun for yourself!
Personally, when it comes to solving riddles that other people give me, I refuse to give up until I can solve the riddle myself. Though I have more fun creating them, the perfectionist within me demands that I discover the solution when presented with a good riddle.
I'm currently trying to devise a way to make these more interactive, like the winner chooses the next answer that I base my riddle around, but it'd require emailing me and that might take too long for my impatience to handle. I'll figure it out....
