A World of Warcraft Guide to Becoming Exalted with Every Faction - Part 1

Updated on April 2, 2017

World of Warcraft is a truly massive game, featuring over 6000+ quests, 300+ mounts, 760+ companion pets, 145+ factions and much, much more. It's not that difficult to see it's quite easy to be swamped with all the (nearly) endless content, which constantly is being updated by Blizzard Entertainment.

For a beginner, it's not easy following along and understanding "which is which" and "how to". Therefore, I decided to publish this article which covers how to become exalted with every faction/reputation.

Starting off, I'll cover the classical factions that was added back in 2004, when the game was first released. These factions are not that many and nowadays it's not as time consuming as it was before to reach exalted status with each of them.

Classic Factions

Argent Dawn

The Argent Dawn is a lawful good organisation that protects Azeroth from the Burning Legion and the Scourge. Their base camps are located in Eastern and Western Plaguelands.

In order to earn exalted status with this faction, you must begin a quest-chain in the Eastern Plaguelands. This chain is started by the non-playable character Fiona, who can be found below.

Location of Fiona, when you first start the quest-chain.

Talking with Fiona, accept the quests named "Gidwin Goldbraids" and "Tarenar Sunstrike" from her, and keep doing these and all oncoming quests until you've reached and completed the quest "Argent Call: The Trial of the Crypt", given by Lord Maxwell Tyrosus later on, and you'll have reached revered standing automatically with Argent Dawn.

Once you've completed these quests, you can reach exalted status by doing two repeatable quests, which are listed below. Lord Raymond George is located at the Light's Hope Chapel cemetery.

Quest

Aberrations of Bone
Lord Raymond George
2000
Kill Rattlegore in the Ossuary of Scholomance.
Annals of the Silver Hand

2000
Recover a lost volume of the Annals of the Silver Hand from Stratholme.

Tip: Do not reset the instance if you choose to go to Stratholme to recover the book. If you do reset your instance lockouts, you'll have to kill every enemy again each time you go there, which wastes time and resources. If you instead leave the lockout be, you can simply run in again and do the objective without any enemies to kill.

Brood of Nozdormu

The Brood of Nozdormu consists of the bronze dragonflight, wardens of Azeroth's timestream from all who wants to disrupt it, causing distortions in the world. They can be found in Caverns of Time, Tanaris (Kalimdor).

Players begin at a hated status with this faction. In order to rise it, you'll have to do the instance raid Ahn'Qiraj several times. This instance is divided into two, namely Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj and Temple of Ahn'Qiraj, both located in south Silithus. See the image above if you're having trouble finding them.

Raising your reputation bar to neutral is easy by killing different trash monsters inside these instances. After neutral status, you'll have to kill the different bosses, which will yield different reputation gains. These differences are compared in the table below.

There's also two more ways to raise your reputation bar after neutral; by collecting a couple of items that drops off the bosses inside Temple of Ahn'Qiraj. The Qiraji Lord's Insignia can be handed in to Kandrostrasz, and the Ancient Qiraji Artifact can be handed in to Andorgos, both located after the first boss in the instance.

Cenarion Circle

The Cenarion Circle is an organization of druids that dedicate their time to protecting nature and restoring the damage done to it by malevolent forces.

Their home is located in Moonglade, but most quests done towards their cause takes place around Silithus.

To raise this reputation, do their quests scattered in Silithus, Felwood and Desolace in Kalimdor. It's also possible to raise it by doing the raid Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj which can net over 2000 reputation total.

Turning in Encrypted Twilight Texts that drops off Twilight cultists in Silithus can also yield 500 reputation for 10 texts. These can be handed in to Bor Wildmane at Cenarion Hold, Silithus.

Behold, My Friend: THE DARKMOON FAIRE!

The Darkmoon Faire is a faction that differs quite much from all others. The faction is located on its unique island named Darkmoon Island, which holds a variety of activities. The faire opens on the first Sunday of the month at 3 AM realm time and lasts for one week.

In order to raise the reputation bar, you have to complete different daily quests. There's also a large set of profession specific quests to complete by doing some not-so-difficult tasks.

It's easy to spot these quests once you travel to the island. Simply keep an eye out for the blue exclamation-marks!

Hydraxian Waterlords

These water elementals are sworn enemies of the incredibly powerful Ragnaros the Firelord. They serve their leader Duke Hydraxis, whom the faction is named after. Their home is the islands of Azshara.

The easiest, fastest and most fun way to raise this faction's reputation bar is by killing monsters in the raid Molten Core. There is a lot of enemies to kill, each rewarding reputation to a certain standing with the Hydraxian Waterlords, and each boss gives 100 to 200 reputation points.

Ravenholdt

A guild of thieves, rogues and assassins, these outlaws welcome only those of extraordinary prowess into its fold. Their home is located in Alterac Mountains.

This reputation grind is quite tedious, and it requires that you have a Rogue character, or a Rogue friend to help you. The grind is generally divided into two parts, and it's recommended to do such.

The first part is simply about killing enemies, specifically members of the Syndicate. Their members can be found in Arathi Highlands and Hillsbrad Foothills and gives around 5 - 15 reputation per kill. This will take you from 0/3000 neutral all the way to 11999/12000 honored.

The second part is all about turning in Heavy Lockboxes, pickpocketed from enemies in the 55-ish level range. A great place to do this is inside the dungeon Lower Blackrock Spire, located in the Blackrock Mountain, between the border or Burning Steppes and the Searing Gorge.

You turn in the lockboxes to Winstone Wolfe, located inside the Ravenholdt Manor.

Thorium Brotherhood

The Thorium Brotherhood is a group of dwarves who have split from the Dark Iron clan. They comprises many talented craftsmen, and hold great knowledge.

Their home is located in the far north of Searing Gorge, where they have established a base of operations, Thorium Point.

One way to score points with this faction is to do their quest-line, but that will only get you so far.

The other way is to turn in items in repeatable quests two most cost-efficient and easily farmed items are the Fiery Core and Lava Core, which rewards 2000 reputation each turn-in to Lokhtos Darkbargainer, who resides in the Grim Guzzler, Blackrock Depths. These items can be bought cheaply from the auction house or farmed from raids like Molten Core.

Timbermaw Hold

As a peaceful and uncorrupted Furbolg tribe, these creatures have escaped demonic exploitation. Although many are nonviolent, the Timbermaw Furbolgs trust few, because many races kill furbolgs blindly, without bothering to see if they are friend or foe. Nevertheless, it's still not difficult to raise the reputation bar with this furry clan!

The fastest way to reach exalted with this faction is by completing a couple of quests in Felwood and Winterspring in Kalimdor. After you've done these quests, you should kill the sworn enemies of the Timbermaw's, the Deadwood and Winterfall furbolgs. These can be found around the exits of the Timbermaw Hold tunnel, in northern Felwood and western Winterspring respectively.

When you kill the Deadwood furbolgs, they have a chance to drop Deadwood Headdress Feather, which you can turn in to Nafien, outside the entrance to Timbermaw Hold in Felwood. Another item that can drop from the Winterfall Furbolgs is the Winterfall Spirit Beads, and these can be given to Salfa, just outside the exit of Timbermaw Hold in Winterspring.

Wintersaber Trainers

This is an Alliance-only faction in Winterspring that requires you to complete a series of daily quests in order to reach exalted (and receive a beautiful mount).

So that's all factions for World of Warcraft Classic! I hope you enjoyed it and be sure to stay tuned for the other expansions faction reputation grinds!
