Buy Hornby Train Sets 1978

Updated on March 17, 2011

Hornby Railways is one of the most revered brands in the UK and Australia due to its long history and high quality sets. These started as Tri-ang Railways around 1950 before they became Tri-ang Hornby in 1965 after a takeover, they then changed the name to Hornby Railways in 1973 before eventually settling on plain Hornby.

Hornby have released a vast number of Train sets over the years with some targetted specifically for the Australian market, however 1978 was a fairly quiet year for Hornby sets sold in Australia and one of the last years that the models were made in there. All told there were 5 sets marketed this year. However this hub celebrates the last sets made in Australia and there are some wonderful examples of what made Hornby sets so popular.

Ebay and Amazon are both great sources for new and used Hornby sets and they can be at extremely reasonable prices, Ebay also gives you a huge variety to choose from as well as allowing you to still find items that are no longer available
