In 2008 in order to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Lego Minifigure, Lego released a series of Vintage Minifigure Collections which featured 5 famous Lego mini-figures from throughout the ages, covering the years 1978 up to 2008. All in all there were 5 Collections in this series and all of them came in lovely presentation boxes that displayed the minifigures well and were extremely collectable.

These Lego Minifigure collections showcased really well the development over the years of the Lego Minifigure from the original slightly basic, not very moveable blocky sort of person to the newest highly detailed minifigures that now grace Lego sets. It also gives a running commentary on the different areas that Lego Minifigures have delved into from Forestmen and Women to Astronauts, from Pirates to Gas Station Attendants.

These Vintage Minifigure Collections are still readily available from Amazon at a very good price and can also be found on Ebay. These Collections are fabulous to own and display and will only appreciate in value as well as interest.

The Lego Vintage Minifigure Collection Volume 1 was released in mid 2008 and featured an Astronaut from 1978, a Fireman from 1981, an Octan Gas Attendant from 1992 , a Convict from 1996 and an extremely disturbing smiling Mad Scientist from 2002.
