Buying a Digital Camera on eBay
- How to Shop on eBay
Shopping is not my favourite pass time, except for shopping for food which I enjoy. Where I live, there are certain items that are simply not available on the local market. I can buy food, cameras and...
Digital cameras have made capturing those special moments in time so very simple. Frame the scene, push the button, check what you got, delete and shot again or keep. What could be easier? Software makes it basic to make changes, reduce red eye, crop and colour correction, all improve our ability to take a good photo.
My interest in photography goes back thirty years to the days of slide and roll film, darkrooms and disappointment. I have owned both Nikon and Canon SLRs with assorted lenses and loved working with them, but I would not go back.
Now I am in need of a new camera. The shop in town is limited in what it ahs in stock so I began my search for the perfect digital camera online at eBay. I have been shopping on eBay for a few years and generally find the experience quite satisfying,
When buying a digital camera, I guess I could simply say camera as that is about all that is on the market. However, on eBay it pays to be as specific as you can. There are still SLR cameras for sale and why wade through items you do not want.
Step one is deciding what you are using the camera for; are you looking to make an album of special occasions, birthdays, weddings, anniversaries or are you a professional photographer?
Regardless of where your interests sit along the line of what is available, it is possible to find a camera that meets your needs.
The next step is to decide how much you are willing to pay. This price must include shipping, unless of course, shipping charges are free which is the case in some camera sales.
Are you a devotee of a particular camera make (Canon, Nikon, Sony), for example, then refine your search for your brand. The refine search feature allows you to choose, brand, type of camera, point & shoot, for example, new or used, location, and Buy Now or auction features. This lets you create a search for what you want rather than looking at every camera listed in an attempt to find what you want.
I like the Buy Now items as long as the combined cost (shipping, handling and sale price) are within my price range, this is the fastest way to get the camera I want.
However, auctions can be fun and now and then you may get a deal, just don’t get caught up in the race to win and end up paying more than you can afford or are willing to pay.
Buying a digital camera on eBay can be a great experience as long as you follow the above ideas.
