Call Of Duty Black Ops Tips And Strategies

Updated on June 19, 2011

Call Of Duty Black Ops has been out now for a couple of months now but seeing as a lot of people have only just started getting online with it i thought i would create this hub for people who are struggling, most of you may already know some of these tips but it cant help brushing up on the fundamentals and i might have some tips you haven't yet thought of,there are some really good players on multi-player blackops and although my tips probably wont put you top of the leader-board they will definitely move you up a few places,i started off as a poor to average player but now consider myself average to good and hopefully learning and putting my tips into practice will do the same for you.

I'm going to list these tips and strategies in no particular order, some are simple and some are a bit more complicated but all are relatively easy to follow and should have you increasing your kill ratio as well as upping the amount of times you get kill-streaks.In my opinion there are four different types of players that are in black ops, there are the campers, the run'n'gunners, the run'n'campers and the static losers!! Now you may at one time have been all of these i have certainly been the last two,in the next part i will tell you what each of these does and the benefits of each strategy and how to implement it well.Lets get at it people!!!!.

The Campers!!

Now for a long time in previous outings of this series of games this was me,i have incredible patience and would love nothing more than finding the ideal hiding place that overlooked a major thoroughfare and just sit there happily with my 50 calibre sniper rifle and just wait for two or three people to come past and quite easily head-shot every single one of them. Now although you can still do that today it is becoming harder, the positives of this type of strategy is that there are a multitude of hiding places in every map and some of them are really good with the chance of you offing at least 10 or so people before someone can make there way up there to finish you off.The negatives are that with the video replay of your death most players can instantly tell where you are and if you don't move within 20 seconds of your kill shot you are going to have a bullet in the back of your head.In my opinion this is not a good strategy anymore unless you are confident that the hiding place you have chosen is unknown to most people and you can reel off a few kills without being found out,the better strategy is what i call Run'n'campers!!!.

Now run'n'campers are the players who still like the sniper elements but once they have hidden in their lair and managed a head-shot they then move to a different sniper position and take up aim again, this way it makes it very difficult for you to be killed in retaliation, there is nearly always at least 5 or so different hideouts in each level so you could still manage 10 kills or so without being tracked down, plus you may also have the added benefit of killing a few players whilst making your way between sniper spots. This is my favourite type of strategy and it works quit well for me,but you do need to put in a bit of work on your own finding out the different sniper spots.

This is probably the most popular tactic when playing Black Ops to be honest and seems to work well but you do need to have a quick trigger finger, obviously when running all over the map you stand the best chance of coming across other players so therefore if you have a good weapon and a quick trigger finger you are likely to get really good kill scores. What you do need for this tactic to work is a good gun that is accurate and also if you can perks to help your accuracy and reload speed as well as possibly even an extended magazine just so you don't run out of ammo if coming across a couple of players in quick succession.

Static Losers

These are the people who really don't know what to do,they have been quite happy playing the campaign mode where it is all sweetness and light and then BANG Multi-player,they usually go for team death-match or free for all and if its free for all they come across 7 other players trying to kill them, they don't know the maps and end up kind of standing in the open light a deer in the headlights, these type of players are really easy to kill and need a week or two of constant playing to get to grips with tactics etc before they finally become one of the players mentioned above, you will always find static losers as new players are joining all the time.

Tip One:Map Awareness

Get to know the maps, this is the most crucial thing you can do to improve your kill-score,if you know the maps at least you will be aware of what is around the corner so you will know if there is a hiding spot for potential enemies,Try setting up a private match and roaming around on your own for a bit,it worked for me.

Tip Two:Perks

Pick the right perks for your style of play,if your style of play is camping then you will need the steady shot perk for steadiness when sniping as well as Ghost so you are undetectable by enemies and enemy aircraft,Scout perk so you can hold your breath for longer when scoping which helps your sniping skills. If you are a run'n'gunner then you will need lightweight and lightweight pro to avoid damage from falling and also to help with your speed,Scavenger to help resupply yourself while running round the maps and steady aim pro which is useful when firing after running as it helps your aim better.Choose carefully and this will greatly help your cause.

Tip Three:Fools Buy

Do not buy yourself a new gun until you reach at least level 10 or so as it is a waste of time when you could be buying perks, use the mp5k sub-machine gun until then as it is a pretty good starting point, maybe combine this with some claymores and you are done really, level 10 comes around in no time and if you haven't spent too many points you should now have some to get yourself a really good gun.

Tip Four: We're Jamming!!

A very underused item is the jammer, you will find that the aggressive players tend to use the map icon very well and will constantly scan for those red dots appearing when your firing your weapon so the jammer is perfect as it leaves them blind,it also gives you time to creep up on them and make a few kills in a row without getting slaughtered.

Tip Five:Contracts

Yes they work, don't do the ones you have no chance of reaching,do the easy ones and earn easy cod points then when the timeout runs out do them again, its easy points with which you can upgrade your equipment, sounds simple doesn't it yet many people either don't use them because hey don't think they are good enough or people use them who think they are good when they are not and fail to complete their targets, remember pick the easy ones.

Tip Six:Pick The Right Matches

Don't do what a lot of newbies do and stick to free for all,try and mix it up a bit,you will get a lot more cod points and experience points playing Team death-match and even more playing demolition especially if it turns into a 20 minute game,Don't be scared just jump in and you may surprise yourself.

Tip Seven:Dead Man's Click

If like me you tend to fire a lot more rounds when in combat then you probably should and then find yourself reloading in open space and with enemies bearing down on you, then try the extended magazines for your weapons, this has saved me countless times now i will fire off say 20 rounds and then another enemy is just round the corner but i don't have to reload as i have 20 or so rounds left.

Haha, I'm a run n gunner! These are great tips but I usually love playing the Domination mode. You have to capture the objectives, A, B, and C and keep them from the other team. You should also try the tomahawk as one of the extra weapons instead of another grenade, it's great fun. Thanks for the tips!
